I totally agree. I dont play stuff like seedborne muse as this will instantly boost atention to omnath. Use second abilty to cast shenanigans that will draw enough focus.

Sometimes it pays off late in the game when removal cards are gone. An early game seedborne muse is a huge mistake. I’ve been at the end of that mistake many times 😅

Thanks for this video. I have not been playing MTG for that long and Omnath seems super powerful but hard to master as a newbie. Your deck tech helped quite a bit. Now trying to build a more budget-friendly version of it to test it out and then see if I go bigger.

I'm really happy to hear my deck tech was helpful. Omnath is an amazing commander! You will have a wonderful time piloting this deck. I might be able to help. When you say budget friendly what exactly would that amount be?

@@CommandersCitadel My LGS league has a $100 limit, so I’d try sticking to that

Myojin of night's reach is exactly the type of card I want to play with. I mean hell, I have a Tourach, dread cantor EDH deck afterall. Let's be best friends! Great list by the way, I've seen a lot of different lists with Omnath, but you've put together a list similar to how I play.

A lot of people are sleeping on this card with Omnath. It's devastating when you pull it off. Great minds think alike. I'm down to be BBF my good man. If you have a list of your Omnath deck I would like to see it. Maybe I can get some tips from it.

Love this omnath version, any chance you'd brew smth more budget friendly with him, in the 100-300 bucks area?

I normally test my decks out against my play group before I make a deck tech on it and my playgroup doesn't play with budgets. It would be difficult to see how a budget deck competes against those types of decks. I'd suggest you stick with the main strategy on the vid and fill the rest of the deck with budget friendly cards. I would also stick with the 21 ramp, 15 draw and 15 removal card formula. That will help out tremendously. If you have your own build I can take a look at it and make some upgrades for you.

34 lands sounds a little risky.. but I like the central ideas of your build, even if it’s disgusting ;) and I’m glad I have a good printer :D

You would think so but but with 21 ramps spells and 15 draw spells this deck has no problem finding it’s mana. I’m all for proxies. I enjoy games not being limited to money. I believe it makes the games highly enjoyable. Good luck with the build. Let me know how it goes.

Do you think he needs a little more protection from removal? Hate to lose all that unspent mana
@CommandersCitadel Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be opposed to that idea. Omnath is quickly becoming a kill on sight general. Maybe a swiftfoot boots will do the trick.

This deck needs Mirri’s Guile for top deck manipulation and early game color fixing. Just remember that Omnath activates at precombat main and Guile at upkeep, so the second card you stack will trigger Omnath.

I want to understand what motivates a player/deck builder like this. You built a staple filled $6k deck that I don’t think would be able to compete if we let it into a $100 max “cedh” tourney. Have you never heard of cedh? Do you have some pride in “not playing cedh”? Then why are you trying to build as good a deck as you can w/out just looking into the stuff we figured out in cEdh?? It’s obviously not a money thing, right? You can build a cedh deck cheaper than this w/out a doubt. Idk man this just looks like a pub stomper. It would stand no chance at all in a cedh pod. In fact it would just mess up the game for the other players I think. And it’s gonna beat the shit out of most, say, $240 LGS decks. It won’t beat the $100 decks I, personally play, but I’m something of a specialist. I have a fully optimized Malcom Tana deck in paper. It tends to attempt a win turn 3 and then it is able to grind very hard if it can’t get under the other decks in the pod. It’s like $4k 🤷♂️. You could easily have built a “real” deck for $6k. This type of deck, which I’m seeing more and more of, is the reason I keep almost creating my KZbin channel. (Well, my new channel) I want to teach people how to spend very little on decks that just frog stomp these LGS money piles that people play away from cedh pods. This was the final piece of inspiration I needed. You just birthed Budget Pubstomper! Namaste homie 🤷♂️nice.. 🤷♂️casual??? Or, idk?, atrocious cedh deck 🤔 No idea

I'm certain this will clear the air for you. You are right in one regard. This deck will not stand a chance in a Cedh tournament because this deck is not a cedh deck. It's a high power casual deck. I am well aware on what Cedh is. In fact the problem I have is with the "C" in Cedh. "Competitive" Cedh decks and players are hyper focused in the "Win at all cost" mentally and strategy. While Cedh can be fun, fun is more of a byproduct in those games. Not to mention that all Cedh decks are build the same way. (Mana rocks, free spells, tutors, interaction and finally an instant "I win" combo) Usually Thassas oracle/Tainted pact. In your case with Malcom/Tana it's probably a (Glint-horn buccaneer + other pinger, Kiki-jiki+corrido monitor, or Dualcaster Mage+twinfalme) or somewhere along those lines I'm certain. Unless you are actually competing, cedh decks in my opinion are not fun because the win condition is repetitive in all their decks. There's a reason casual and cedh are separated even though they're in the same format. The reason you're seeing more decks like this is because people are realizing and understanding the differences. Maybe it's a sign for you to relax on building cutthroat Cedh decks and prioritize having fun. I can say the same with high power edh decks and budget edh decks. I get that not everyone has $4-$6K to drop on a deck. Fortunately I play casually with friends to have fun so for those reason we play with proxies. Even our LGS allow us to play with proxies. It's a great environment where your deck idea and build isn't limited to the money you make. We don't play for prizes, only for fun. So while this Omnath deck you looked at may cost $6K to build it only costed me $30 total including sleeves and a deck box. You can make this deck budget friendly if you really wanted to. Most staples and dual lands is significantly increasing the price of this deck but the core of the deck is what really matters and with just that you can make this deck with about $300-$400 give or take. I have a real Cedh Kenrith, the returned king deck worth over 10k that I haven't played with in over 4 years because I don't have much fun playing with it. That's not just my opinion but the opinions of most people I play with. Cedh is not fun. I get a greater sense of satisfaction beating my opponents down to 0 with stompy creatures over and instant "I win" combo. I'm glad I inspired you to finally create your channel because you inspired me to make a video on the differences between Cedh and edh. I wish you the best. If you're ever in the Los Angeles area and want to dip your toes in casual matches let me know. I have plenty of decks you can borrow. Mtg players are always welcomed. Hopefully this shined some light in your understanding with the style. I would truly like to know your thoughts after this.
