Thanks for all the info. I changed to a dexcom cgm from the medtronic one so much easier with insertion. Hoping to change to omnipod 5 soon.

Good that your losing the weight and getting better diabetes mgt. While not as drastic, I’ve also lost 30lbs over the last year. 188 to 158 at last weighing. I started OmniPod 5 five months ago. My time in range went from 86 to 93 % time in range and my avg blood sugar is 129. I’m on a fairly high carb diet, but I usually use less than 30 units insulin per day. God willing, we’ll both continue to see more improvements in our health and control.

Great video. I’ve been on the Omnipod 5 for 2 weeks now. My numbers have also improved significantly

I think we have been on the pump about the same time. My videos are about a week behind my actual progress.

Can you remove the auto mode? I know the pump is set to maintain a 100 mg/dl range at the lowest. Hopefully the new iterations with this technology are programed to true normal at 80 mg/dl in the future!

You can stay in manual mode. You are not forced to use auto mode.

@@TheJjfrasier Thank you! Do you remember how was your transition from MDI to the pump? Generally the conversion is 1:1 from basal shot to pump’s basal rate. I currently take 18.5 units of Tresiba a day. I think would need anywhere from 0.75 to 0.8 units per hour. Was your experience similar?

I was actually mixing fast acting and long acting insulin. So I had to learn to just be on fast acting. The transition was good from what I can remember. I would suggest keeping in touch with your pump trainer or doctors office and keep a paper with the basal settings for your reference. The paper can be utilized when you think a change needs to be made and when talking with your doctor. If you make adjustments give them 5-7 days to see how they are working.

Did you set up the OmniPod yourself or did you have in-person or virtual training? I just got my OmniPod but have to wait another week for training.

I set the pump up myself. Only because I have had the omnipod before and I’m familiar with all of my pump settings. My doctor is also comfortable with me making changes to my pump if needed.

My wife just started YesturdAy and we have it in auto mode but it’s only giving her .05 basal per hour. We Woke up this morning and her sugar was like 400. Any idea what’s wrong?

The pump has to learn her insulin needs. You will have to do corrections for the first week or so then the pump will slowly learn her needs.
