I came into the game with the knowledge that Mari's dead, and I thought that this was supposed to be the final twist, so I was shocked to learn the actual truth, and how Basil was connected to it all. also both graveyard scenes with sunny made me sob so hard I'm surprised my parents didn't come to check on me. and I wish that I didn't see the clip to the final duet like a million times before playing the game it kinda made this amazing scene a bit less emotional

same, i knew mari was dead, had a hunch that (to put it lightly) she did it herself, and i thought that was going to be the twist. boy, i was in for a surprise. i was like "no way no way no way" during the whole truth segment. but yeah at least i was careful to never watch the final duet clip, just listened to the song, made it all so much more impactful heheh.

I got spoiled to Sunny murdering Mari, but then the game convinced me that Mari actually hanged herself and the comment I saw was wrong. Basically, the reveal that Sunny killed Mari managed to fuck me up despite the fact I got spoiled to it before I played the game. 🙃

I had played some game, and one of the death messages was "Just like Mari from Omori" I didn't understand what it meant, so I looked it up and assumed Sunny would kill her midway through the story. Boy was I wrong. I thought it would be everyone dying until Basil and Sunny were left and stuff, because I saw them holding hands at the doorway. It made me scared to play the game. I have to assume there's some game that made me assume that but I just can't remember. I thought it'd be some gut wrenching game I'd go through to make myself suffer. Thank god it turned out the way it did.

ive seen people hate on basil but i honestly just feel so bad for him... if i were to witness my best friend accidentally kill their sibling, in truth im sure i would have done exactly the same as he did. people on the internet joke all the time that theyd help their bestie bury a body. i mean, what else are you meant to do? you're still young, full of panic and adrenaline, and the only thing you know is that if you dont do something to cover this up, you wont be losing just the one but both of them. so you drag the body outside and hoist them up onto the tree, and afterwards you swear never to speak of what happened. but then? your friend shuts themself away and represses their memories while you are left to deal with everyone's grief on your own while being the only one who knows the truth, and that disgusting guilt and isolation eats at you every single day. then when you finally see that dearest best friend again after so long, its only to learn that they're moving away in just a few days, and you'll truly never see them again. like its true basil made a lot of mistakes but i cant make myself fault him for it. i see myself in him too much to do that 😔

I knew I could never play omori the moment i heard it had horror Elements. It's unfortunately something I just can't get through at all. Still, as counterproductive as it sounds I'm fascinated by hearing what such stories are about and have watched a lot of essays, even pushed myself to at least watch a play through. It's not horror in the traditional sense, it doesn't jumpscare you or scare you with scary or grotesque stuff, it messes with your mind directly, which some people might say is scarier than regular horror games, it certainly makes for a better story than most horror games, but I think most non-horror gamers can handle it.
