This has to be the most historic film ever produced. Needs to be shown in schools around the globe.

Bowie's performance was truly haunting. Incredible film that I have only watched once, and will never do so again due to how it made me feel. Even 40 years on, I have clear memory of it. R Sakamoto (RIP) gave us a musical score that is exceptional, and I still enjoy it today.

I didn't really get emotional until the guard wished him Merry Christmas. And you're right . I don't think I could watch it twice. This was my first Bowie movie

It is essentially a love story, between Celliers and the camp commandant, albeit one sided. It is also a good story on how to maintain your humanity in a place where humanity is lacking or non-existent. I fell in love with Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Bowie after watching this film when it was released on video, only 14 years old. It is a powerful story then as it is now. RIP to both of them.

Even the whole story is mind blowing on so many levels.
May God bless Japan and all the japanese people. Japan and Europe will always be connected and the respect we have for the other of us is eternal. From Italy
