Traumatic memories are implicit which means they are stored in the part of the brain without language, without beginning and an end and cannot be integrated into the bigger narrative of our life story. And its stored in fragments. Hence why the statement is what it is. You need to understand the brain, neuroscience and what trauma does to the brain to understand why victims cant speak and not able to give a narrative coherent statement
