I had a break from Helios for about 6yrs too. Too expensive to keep crashing like you say. Then I had a hankering to try again and built a SAB fireball as it was the first heli I had seen with a direct drive motor. Then the omphobby M1 caught my eye - utter joy! As soon as you open the box you know it’s good. The tech improvements on Helis in the six years have been great.

ha i have the fireball havock too, though the tail never really worked that well for me (even running on a vbar neo) so its probably going to go. You are right though, the tech has moved fast, and im so happy that the small helis are this good now! Thanks for the comment :)

@@NJ-Tech Yes I can well believe it! Are the controls similar to that of a quad? What simulator would you recommend for training before I do take the plunge? Also have you seen this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoq7nZqCls6Zbq8 Pretty impressive that it took a hit like that and stayed as intact as it did!! Hope you’re well dude

@@GigawattsFPV i saw that crash haha so mad isnt it! Though ive cut some grass and crops and never had that happen. Either way im about 7 crashes in now and finally bust a part which cost me £2 to replace lol. In terms of the controls yes its very similar to quads but the main difference is 0 pitch is centre stick with -100 for negative pitch and +100 for positive pitch. That will take a little getting used to but im sure you would pick it up super quick! The sim to get is called Accurc, its on steam and perfect for getting to grips with how RC helis fly :)

Still got the skills NJ. Helis scare to poop out of me though, even those little 'uns. Nice to see one not explode in a crash though - you just need long grassy stuff to help cushion the impact
@NJ-Tech3 жыл бұрын
Thanks matey. Yes, i agree they are intimidating but i think it's a good thing to retain a healthy fear of helis. It scares me how close to themselves some people fly these things! By the way, i know it looked like crashes but this is actually how crop circles are formed. Fact!

Just purchased an OMP M2 EXP and after a few flights, finding the pitch range seems very twitchy and responsive. By contrast, the cyclic speed/response is very 'mushy' and slow meaning you have to apply a lot of aileron and elevator stick to get it to move. Anything you could suggest to address these findings? I would add that when I bring the blades together in line with the boom and splay the blades in opposite directions (to the max) I get a tip to tip gap of around 135mm!! That seems a lot and surely would equate to more than the 12.5 degrees the manual says if the factory default.
@NJ-Tech3 жыл бұрын
it sounds like you need to do your servo centering so that your throw is even in + and - pitch. Do you know how to adjust the flight controller settings? All your issues are solvable by going through those, including cyclic sensitivity. You can adjust both the linear and feed-forward response of the cyclic to be balistic if you want to.

I own the v2 and love it..I was thinking of purchasing the explorer..but there is no need..I would want the metal head as you did..cause I wouldn't trust plastic with the type of head speed those can dish out.....I haven't crashed mine .I use a mcpx bl2 for hard 3d..but I have been pushing this m2...it can pull out of trouble with ease..I was amazed how cheap the parts are to buy if I did crash..so I may leave blade all together..and stick with omp...they sell carbon fiber blades for this now they are more like the regular blades than these thin ones..
@NJ-Tech3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! So interestingly as I now have and crashed both the v2 and the explore, the explore has never once broken a servo horn where as the v2 always breaks them. As I've upgraded the blade grips I can clearly put this down to the carbon/plastic lower swash. It flexes just enough to stop the horns breaking but I honestly can't tell a difference in flight between the v2 and the explore. So although the all metal swash is nice, the half and half of the explore is actually just as precise to fly and saves parts on crashes. Interesting! Great helis though as you say. I won't go back to blade now.

@@NJ-Tech the servo arms are pretty cheap on them besides the cast case..think ones that nice would have composite plastic at least...maybe could find better arms for them....cause I'm sure the flex under the Gforce that heli can dish out

One thing I will say, is you must be lightning quick on throttle kill because this thing is not that hard to damage. You can easily twist up the boom, break, blade grips, and servo horns on just about any routine crash. Again you’re more experienced than me. I’ve recently begun to get “bette” at crashing, both by learning to fly a bit better, and being quick on throttle cut. Still though this thing is not gonna be crash resistant the way a coaxial would be. By the way, would centering, the servos also set zero pitch at mid stick (mine is a bit off) and I suppose I should do that out of stability mode and then idle up one or two, right? Thanks. Agree completely about the heli as well. I discovered these a few years back, and even though I wasn’t very experienced, I recognized the quality as compared to say Blade was night and day.

One question I bought one off of amain hobby and it's the m2 explorer but it has the plastic blade grips and swash plate and then I saw the one on Amazon called the "new version" with the meatl head so my question is are they the exact same insides just the blade grips and swash plate are meatl on the newer version?
@NJ-Tech3 жыл бұрын
Correct and you can always upgrade those parts if you want. I have the pro all metal and the explore with the plastic parts. They both fly exactly the same and personally I break less with the plastic lower swash than the pro because the all metal swash transfers the crash energy to the servo horns and those break.
