I'm considering a job opportunity in Guam and have been binge watching your channel. I love how you have mixed in these slow, moody entries along with the some off the beaten path discoveries. Thank you for sharing your journeys out there!

I lived in Guam starting in 1964 for 18 months, in Mongmong, then Camp Dealy, then Sinijana. My father had a tour as a civil service power plant electrician at Piti. My father was in the navy in the pacific in wwii and spent some time on Guam at the submarine rest camp at camp Dealy. He was also assigned to a submarine tender at Apra harbor. I attended a junior high in Mongmong and then JFK for senior high. My father told of a drunken sailor who was shot dead trying to enter the camp at night during WWII. He told of a submarine that came in for R&R with a crew that were afraid because their captain was gung ho. He said they went out and never returned. Camp Dealy was a beautiful place. The swimming pool built into the edge of the ocean inside the reef was still partially intact when we were there in 1964. Is it still there? It was about a mile south of Jones Beach. There was alot of anti stateside sentiment when I was there. I was called "howly" quite often and pushed to fight. I remember a sailor was badly injured by someone sticking a board out of the window of a car as they drove by and hit him. There were fights almost every day at JFK. I hung around with a group of Filipino guys from a family named the Pacos. I liked their sister Dora but she wasn't too fond of me. The Gumanians hated the Philipinos.

You really like to explore areas that are not so populated & seeing my island as it’s true isolated nature, wonderful … have you checked out other sites around the island besides near Nctams & AAFB ? More beautiful sites like Inarajan pool so close to the reef & on main road touring down south, Talofofo Falls, Pago Bay Safari, etc, and coming around the Southern end, Merizo Pier to go out to Cocos Island, & high points looking out from Umatac Village at Cliff site Magellan Fort along the roads, Veterans WWII Monument at Nimitz Hill passing ComNavMar / near top of the Mar if your coming back to central Guam or Northern Guam. There’s a lot to see, if you go to GVB Tourism at Ipao Public Beach Near the Hilton Hotel it’s right on the road before you turn into Hilton Hotel.

Has anyone gone over the "asking permission" before going through the jungle or picking fruits or plants in the jungle with you?

to get to mushroom rock, do you need to call anyone or can you just walk past the gate?
@tayloredstory8241
@tayloredstory8241 2 жыл бұрын
No, you don't need permission to walk down there. I usually just go right around the gate. You can also walk to the beach from the parking area and take the beach path.
