10 year anniversary! My daughter was supposed to have a beach wedding near Fort Morgan, AL on the 13th (I know - beach wedding during hurricane season? She batted her eyelashes at Dad, and said, “But Daddy, I want it!”). So thanks to Ike, we had a beautiful wedding on the lawn at the Beach Club! Glad y’all made it through!

Pretty cool, glad you guys saved the boat. Looks to me like you are in the bay between Bolivar and Baytown, where I live. Which means that the EYE went pretty much right over you. Ike was in my opinion a really underrated storm. Massive as all get-out. You fought a good one, be thankful it wasn't Carla. ;-)

What's funny is they pointed out land on both sides, not far from where they anchored...Yet they thought that was far enough from the hurricane? Am I understanding this correctly? I'm from North Carolina so hurricanes are no stranger but I know where they anchored wasn't no where near far enough away...

I tell you what, during that storm i rather be in the waters than on shore because on the boat your are able to be afloat on top of the water, not in the water like I was during Ike literally being on Galveston Island. Best decision was to move boat away from shore. I believe it would have been damaged if it was not driven away from land.
