Feeling unprepared and hearing nothing but the pounding of her heart ringing in her ears, Team USA heptathlete Chari Hawkins let her anxiety get the best of her at last year’s USATF Indoor Championships. Instead of retreating inward, Chari opened up to her community about her anxieties. In hearing others stories she learned not put her self-worth on how well she did or did not do on any given day. Adapting, Chari now commits herself to guided meditations and visualization techniques in her training. The balance of physical and mental training has her back on track and standing taller than ever.
Real Talk stories are open, honest and timeless lessons we can all learn from - now and along the journey to come. Some moments you may remember. Others are new. Every week we invite you listen in and learn how #AthletesAdapt. It’s what we do.
