I left one city which had eliminated all of its grade crossings and moved to one which has no public rail transportation of any kind, so I really miss scenes like this.

theres always red marker lights on the rear of the train. I am surprised these did away with the blue and green marker lights though. I guess the led signs have proven sufficient for indicating which route the train is.

@@ChicagolandTransit I was lucky to be on the 7000 series on the Pink Line on June 3, 2021 at 7:07a.m at Pulaski. The car is beautiful and I love the security camera screen. I love how the customer will be noticed of the next stop in multiple places in the car. The only item is the seats. I feel me sweating in the seat.

Sounds like they had Lee Crooks to record new lines for all the lines! They all sound great! I gotta ride these 7000's one day! PS: Those 3rd Rail Gaps for the 7000's! 🤯 Especially at 14:47. 🤤 Edit: The dude at end?

I did notice the platform kneel but I assumed that was on every other unit. Also not-so-fun-fact if you were to run an MTA R160B on the loop you would certainly break something. Take note of how the bogies are built on CTA units compared to MTA units.
@ChicagolandTransit3 жыл бұрын
In theory, MTA's IRT cars can clear the Loop. The only MTA BMT/IND type train that ever touched the CTA's tracks was the State of the Art Cars (SOACs) and they only ran on the Skokie Swift (Yellow Line).
@blue9multimediagroup3 жыл бұрын
None of them can. CTA cars are 48ft long. IRT cars are 51ft long so that extra 3 ft on the end may pose a turn issue.
@ChicagolandTransit3 жыл бұрын
@@blue9multimediagroup North Shore Line cars were longer than 48 ft and they cleared the Loop. MTA's IRT cars can technically fit on CTA tracks.
@samuelitooooo3 жыл бұрын
@@blue9multimediagroup Looking at some specs and doing some math, the distance between truck centers are 33' 8" for CTA cars, and 36' on MTA IRT cars, 2' 4" further. The latter are 3' 4" longer overall (51' 4"), so I'll assume their overhang at each end is 6" longer. As for width, a CTA car end is 8' 8", but widens to 9' 4" towards the middle. An IRT car is 8' 9.5" wide with flat sides all the way. So being 6.5" narrower at the middle might not be a problem on curves, but being 1.5" wider at the ends (as well as at platform height) and 6" longer past the trucks … could be?

Chicagoland you forget the "Chicago Black Hawks" in case you hate hockey that also plays at the United Center. Nice video but strong suggestion to please use more "outdoor' shots ie the tracks and famous landmarks instead of the train crew and other riders. Thanks. PS not just this country Chicagoland are viewers watching. So are many others from outside of the US as well.

Chicago does have the system, just limited by some operational stuff in the Chicago RTA and freight railroads. Also limited by the fact Chicago isn't the most walkable city.

Why is the train nealing this i cant sea the reson to do this just build the train on the same hight as the platforms this will cause brakedowns if its not good maintaint
@ChicagolandTransit3 жыл бұрын
Not all platforms are the same height. The 7000s now have sensors to detect the platform level instead of kneeling all the way down like the 5000s. I'm not too much of a fan of hydraulic suspension because of maintenance but we'll see how they perform in the long run vs the 5000s.
@nashorn97453 жыл бұрын
@@ChicagolandTransit thanks for the imput here were i live the trains have a metall board that pops out when the train stops so the gap between the train and platform is not mor than an inch but i have never sean a train that can neal busses do this all the time
@blue9multimediagroup3 жыл бұрын
@@nashorn9745 gaps aren't the same as height difference. That's a horizontal opening that'll cause you to fall thru if you're not careful vs a height change that could trip you and make you fall onto the car or the ground. Either one is no good and can lead to serious injury. JS
@michaelbilgen29763 жыл бұрын
Probably so that it's easier for disabled people to board the train.
@dfwrider38309 ай бұрын
the higher ride allows more movement on the suspension for a better ride. It is a maintenance hassle, on the 5000s they actually automatically lower the suspension after being off for 45mins. this can injure or kill the workers.
