the hype around on shoes is ridiculous as their performance gets better with less clouds those shoes have. it only shows me the whole cloud concept is just wild marketing tailored as swiss engineering, neglecting the long term durability and basic runners needs. yeah it all seems fancy and it looks good, but the brand is just a wannabe-runners snobbery for me with the insane pricing. impressive story but not the one i would admire. regardless great review, kofuzi, thanks for that!

In my humble opinion, On Cloudboom Strike is a great overall 2024 surprise, much more fun to run than the Alphafly 3, metaspeed sky Paris. I am very pleased with the experience in it so far.

This makes sense to me. If you love what the Cloudboom Strike has to offer, i would predict that you likely don’t like the alphafly and Metaspeed Sky. And vice versa. Alphafly lovers probably aren’t going to love these

I have had the opportunity to try all 3 shoes (AF 3, MS Paris, CB Strike) throughout 2024. I loved the AF at my first ever marathon finishing 4:01, however I had to return those due to durability issues just after 80k 😢 I then moved to MS which helped me the most with my 10k (0:45) and 1/2 marathon (1:42) pace but was not as fun to run in for me - the bounciness if you know what I mean. Now I decided to run my next marathon in Onboom Strike which is like the MS for me but with the fun factor too 👏 I am quite inexperienced runner who is progressing really fast in terms of pace, I had also relearned from a heelstriker to a forefootstriker, so I am not sure how related my experience with those shoes is. However, that is how I find those 💪

I really like the Cloudboom Echo 3 for speedwork and I think it would be a great 5-10k shoe. However wasn't sure it would be padded enough for a half. I would probably be aiming for a 3:30 so wondering if this new shoe would be padded enough. I have previously used the Alphafly 2 for my last marathon and loved that, found the 3 to be too lightweight and more like a vapourfly. Would you say the new Cloudboom Strike might good if I like the 3? If not I have been thinking about the New Balance Fuelcell SuperComp Elite v4. Love the vids!

How would you categorize stability? I know it’s not something you focus on, but as On shoes have lately had wider bases, I wonder if this can be a big dude’s race day shoe. Forgive me if I missed it, but also didn’t hear typical TTS or not statement.
@ohminsun5 ай бұрын
I found that this ran large for me, so I would have ideally sized down half a size. I'm normally a women's 7 and have a wider foot but not wide enough to take a "true" wide size in shoes. For me there ended up being quite a bit of volume in the heel, midfoot, and toebox.

Hello - these clouds now seem smaller than startup years. So maybe more just a cosmetic signature for On Cloud and a bit of a gimmick especially as now fewer and smaller. Is really any benefit over just having more energy return pebax foam to fill in these clouds? Think over past 30 yrs other shoe companies using these type open area. And too nike has the air max shoes with captured air inside under most of shoe but not in there premium running shoes so maybe bit of gimmick too.

@sammiller10032 ай бұрын
Got to disagree. Adios pro 3 is stiffer, much less of a soft feel. To me I thought cloudboom strike felt softer and had more return than the pro3. Also felt more return and similar softness to alphafly 3. Cloudboom felt like the superior shoe. My issue is with the upper. It cuts into my ankle bone

Mike - thanks again for all the info. I could really use your input here : So confused on the difference in the midsole of this versus the LS version. I understand the uppers differ. But hole placement and size are. Is it the same midsole compound, etc. just received this version but do I return and wait for the LS version?
@kofuzi5 ай бұрын
short answer: they're different. see end of the video. I discuss the differences specifically (albeit briefly) practical answer: don't return the one you have. I don't have specific information, but I consider it highly unlikely that the LS version will be actually available for purchase other than for a very few lucky people.

@@kofuzi What interests me with the CM2 is that you have the ability to up the pace (think fartslek) whilst out there. How would you say the eclipse manages increasing the pace? To summarize I’m mostly looking for a daily trainer that is fun, supportive, and that lets me pick up the pace. I would never buy the CM2 at its full price though however. Such an intriguing shoe. But at $280 I can't justify adding another speed day shoe to my stable. The Cloudventure Peak was the first On shoe I saw that translucent upper on, and it is gorgeous. But I wish On would let their LightSpray tech trickle down to the masses. I agree that those Cloudtec pods should be farther forward, but I think On shoes tend to favor heel strikers who use the entire footstrike. Finally, I don't understand people who wear black singlets on a sunny day. 🤷♀

So I bought this shoe from Fleet Feet, I haven’t gotten a chance to run in it yet. But I did wear it to the grocery store, and to the YMCA for leg day. I will agree I didn’t feel any plushness in the forefoot foam. It’s very dense, all the love went to the heel. It’s like an expensive Streakfly with its lightness, and soft heel. But it’s missing the soft pad in the forefoot that the Streakfly had. When walking around I felt like I was wearing a low heel, with how the back is just slapped on with no gradual curve. I will keep them if they are good or not for running, because I absolutely love the way they look. I did see a lot of eyes on them as I went about my day and 2 actual compliments/questions about the shoes. They are stable to me, and not uncomfortable but I wouldn’t take them on holiday and pick them to walk around a new city. Running errands and such, they do just fine.
@kofuzi5 ай бұрын
I probably wouldn’t choose carbon plated shoes or racing foams for leg day (as I think that would feel too unstable for squats or deadlifts and would wreak havoc on the foam), but if you like em that way, go for it. Glad they’re working for you
