It’s insane how a lot of runners act nowadays with stacks and weight. I don’t know if entitled is the right word, but people want more stack and less weight; it’s so unrealistic. I LOVE how this shoe is a reminder that we don’t need to be on a hollow serta mattress to be comfortable.

🤣 This is a funny, and yet appropriate, way to look at runner’s need for stack. We want it to defy physics!

Very nice-looking shoe! 🤩 Many people use On shoes for elegant but simple look. I see a lot of them in the gym. I ran in a pair of CloudFlow (2020) when On didn't version their shoes which I heard that it was on purpose so they could continue to sell last the shoe at full price! Mine looked great when I got it, but it turned out to be one of the least durable shoes I owned. 😕 In 6-7 months the upper was torn, the heel rubber was worn out down to the foam and in the end some of the pod was basically gone. It looked awful in the end. I had only 3 shoes with upper tearing problems so far. To be fair, at the time, I didn't have as many pairs of shoes as I do now, so it got heavy action. Also, back then the stack was lower and while it was a lightweight shoe, I felt I needed more cushion especially the springboard they used was pretty hard. I really hope this version is more durable.

You description of your first Cloudflow was exactly why my impressions of On shoes were (even though I hadn't tried them). They have clearly come a long way as I've been hearing good things from reviewers for at least a year. Specifically with the Cloudmonster and Cloudsurfer. I'm happy to have finally tried a pair but more so that I actually liked them!

I will be getting it on November 1st.. I just hope they are not to narrow.. I started running in shoes with a harder midsole and my hip pain is gone.. Boston 12, Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro, Metaspeed Sky Plus and Edge Plus.. What caused my issue is the Alphafly V1 and New Balance SC Trainer V2..
@its_Matt_B_

I don’t think they’re narrow, although I realize that’s completely subjective! If they fit, I think you’ll really like them! I agree the SC Trainer v2 is super soft, but I also consider the MetaSpeed Sky + to be a super soft shoe. Also the WRP is definitely on the softer side….I’m just glad you’ve found out how to get rid of that hip pain!

I wish more people would do their homework (like watch your channel, for example). Every time I walk into a running shoe store, half the people are trying on ON, and the other half are trying on Hoka. I'm convinced that running shoe stores get higher margins on these two brands.
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
It could be higher margins or it could be On and Hoka have a secret marketing hack the other brands aren’t privy to! Either way, these Cloudflow 4s are as good as, or better, than their competition. This is my first On shoe so now I’m very curious to try more.

As an employee... we don't get higher margins. If anything we get higher margins on Brooks which is why some stores push them so hard. On for whatever reason has taken off with the tik tok girls and people that like the style of the shoes and don't care at all about the fit, while Hoka has developed a huge word of mouth presence especially among older people or people who work all day and don't use them to run which has led to a bunch of people coming into stores looking specifically to try them.

Until the Rocket X2 and Mach X Hoka was a marketing hype.. On shoes as well until lately with the Boom Eco 3 and Cloudmonster. My wife is crazy about On shoes for everyday use but likes to run in the Novablast 3 (several pairs) and Saucony Speed 3..

Currently running in the cloudflow 3, definitely looking to this as its replacement when it’s time. There are a few reviews out there on this one and all seem to be positive. 👍🏃‍♂️👟 looking forward to further updates as they appear. Love my cloudflow 3’s so will stay with my current run flow state for now. Great review.

Cheers, Caleb! I've seen a few people have said they prefer this over v3, but it's good to hear you're liking your v3, so when it comes time for a new pair you should really like these!

The upper seems to have some huge durability issues, at least in the first production line. Otherwise the cloudflow is finally the shoe it was firstly designed for... My personal question is like... why choosing the cloudflow over the cloudmonster, the monster seems to do the same thing but is also for very long distances.
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
@@Chungdol92 I haven't run in the Cloudmonster, but it seems like they're designed for different things, although like most shoes you could do pretty much anything in both. On puts different formulations of their Helion foam in their shoes, so the ride is probably quite different. Also, the Monster has a bit more stack, so the road feel is probably less, leading to a lower feeling of "pop."
@Chungdol92
@Chungdol92 Жыл бұрын
@@its_Matt_B_ ON could send you a pair of it, Iam sure you would be surprised! The Monster feels actually very snappy and soft fhe faster you run, and kinda firm the slower you run, a true trojan horse 😆 Also super super Lightweight besides its looks. Thank you for responding 🤗

I run in the On CloudUltra 1's for my trail runs. Quite probably my favourite ever running shoes. Love them. I did try the On CloudFlyer but they were way too stiff and gave me arch ache and the soles were wearing out after only 45Km. But its safe to say, I am a fan boy of On shoes generally. Looking forward to trying these ones out at some point. How's the wear on these now?
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark! These feel great but the wear is definitely higher than usual. The funny thing is that I usually see the most wear on my heel but on these i'm seeing a lot of wear on the forefoot. Still, I think everything else about this shoe still makes it worthwhile.

Unbelievable but I am returning them. I have wide feet but they are just to wide for me in the toebox and the toebox is so high it's not a good fit. I think going down half a size will be better.. Probably in the Century as well.. That's the name of the new super max from on?
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
I'm surprised to hear they're too wide, but it's no big loss. You still have enough running shoes to get by. The Cloudeclipse is On's new max cushion shoe!

How dare you pull out the durometer with no warning?🔬totally ambushed! I know. I’m EVEN later to this show, but I think I’m going going to see how this shoe goes. I’m struggling to reach for a shoe when I’m a bit sore or tired as all my shoes seem slightly hard. As much as I like my invincible 2, they are only for walking and hanging around before a after runs as they are just tooooo soft. This, Nimbus, or Mach X?
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
This is surprisingly good, but you should also consider the Cloudeclipse. The Nimbus 26 is definitely comfortable and not too soft but it seems more traditional.

@@its_Matt_B_ everything I hear about ‘On’ is they are harder than they look Matt and I don’t fancy taking a chance. I used to always buy Kayanos (10 years ago!)and never even realised they were supposed to be a stability shoe, humming an arghing!

@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ Жыл бұрын
Hey Tan! I'm not a sprinter, so it's tough to say. When I think about track shoes I imagine something much more low-profile with less cushioning. These are ultimately a daily road trainer that work very well at faster paces. I think they would feel good and respond well on the track, but I don't think that is their intended use!
