Hi Thanks for the review. Of the four models this one, the monster the Surfer and the Straus which ones are the best daily trainers? Are you planning on reviewing the Cloudflow 4?
@run4it
@run4it 7 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. All four models could be used as daily running shoes. It's always tricky to say one is the best, as people have varying preferences. However, in my case, I find the Cloudeclipse feel best for daily miles. This is because the cushioning feels very comfortable at slower paces, really protective for longer runs, and pretty propulsive at steadier efforts. For a lot of runners, the Cloudeclipse have a good chance of performing very well over a wide variety of paces and distances. To explain further, comparing the Cloudeclipse to the Cloudstratus as an example: the Cloudstratus probably feels slightly better on steadier effort runs, due to the extra propulsion from the full-length Speedboard. However, the Cloudeclipse still feels great at this type of intensity. At the same time, the Cloudeclipse offers a significantly plusher underfoot feel at slower paces. The difference at steadier efforts between the two models is pretty marginal, but there's a stark difference at slower paces. Hopefully this helps explain why the Cloudeclipse can perform better across varying daily usages. We won't be reviewing the On Cloudflow 4 unfortunately. These should offer a very different experience to the models mentioned in this review, as they have a low cushioning profile and a stiff Speedboard. As a result, these are likely to feel best for shorter faster paced runs and tempo efforts. Thanks.

Hi does the weight difference between this and cloudsurfer noticeable? and is this one more firmer? Love your review
@run4it
@run4it 8 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your comment. The Cloudeclipse feel slightly heavier. However, I don’t really notice the weight difference during runs. That’s mainly because the extra cushioning takes more impact out of landing. As a result, the effort feels easier. Even though the Cloudsurfer are lighter, it feels slightly harder work running longer distances in them. From a cushioning perspective, the Cloudeclipse offer a slightly firmer under foot sensation, but this translates into more propulsion. Additionally, even though the Cloudeclipse are firmer, they feel more cushioned and protective. Overall, the Cloudeclipse feel very plush and padded.

Hello Finlay… great review… would you say the On Cloudeclipse is suitable for someone with osteoarthritis in the big toe joints with its rocker geometry? Thank you.
@run4it
@run4it 8 ай бұрын
@@GuyKynnersley thanks for your comment. They could be. The rocker geometry feels very pronounced and comparable to other models that are known for this. In theory, the rocker should help reduce the stress placed on the big toe joint, as the foot shouldn’t have to flex as much.

Hi, I want to ask some more questions about the eclipse and surfer. Right now, I am leaning more towards eclipse.I run around pace 7-8 min/kilometer (on the slow side i think) and my weight is 125lbs. Reasons I like eclipse more right now are that it is better for plantar facilitis, better for walking and can be used as midfoot striker.But there is still some concern in me1 Isn’t’ eclipse so similar to superblast. 2 The lacing system seems not very tight, but if we use a heel lock that won't be a problem right? 3 Do you think that eclipse is suitable for my pace and daily use (around 3-5 miles per day, slow pace)? 😊😊
@run4it
@run4it 21 күн бұрын
Hi. The Cloudeclipse should work very well for that pace range. Lacing is an individual preference, but it's not a great idea to have your laces overly tight. As long as your feet aren't slipping when you're running, it's ok if they don't feel very tight. Of course, using the last eyelet to lock the heel counter into a place is a good idea though.

Thanks for a review. I have been deciding on buying one on shoe ( surfer,eclipse,runner2). Can you give me some opinions? For Information, I already own superblast and nb1080v13 Looking for some shoe to fit into my run including daily run(5-8kilometers) and daily wear(walking around). I didn’t want a fast-paced shoe because if I want to run fast/Long, I will use superblast for that category of run I am a beginner runner who is still recovering from plantar fasciitis and most interest in cloudsurfer right now. Can you please provide some info and recommendation. Thank a lots.😊

Hi, Thanks for your question. The Cloudeclipse and Cloudsurfer use the same cushioning system: CloudTec Phase. This means both models deliver a very smooth transition from landing to toe-off. However, the Cloudeclipse midsole is much thicker than the Cloudsurfer, and offers much more cushioning and protection. The Cloudeclipse also have a more prominent rocker geometry. The reason for highlighting this is that the Cloudeclipse could lower the stress on your feet and ankle joints more effectively than the Cloudsurfer - therefore aiding your recovery from plantar fasciitis. Having said that, the Cloudsurfer are lighter and feel very soft underfoot - so could also be great options. There's no way of saying with certainty which ones will be better. In summary, the Cloudeclipse offer max cushioning and feel incredibly protective. The Cloudsurfer are lighter and actually feel softer, but don't offer maximum levels of cushioning. Both models should feel very comfortable for slow runs and walking. The Cloudrunner 2 are quite different as they don't feature CloudTec Phase cushioning and also have a full-length Speedboard. This means they deliver a more responsive underfoot sensation and will feel a lot firmer than the Cloudeclipse and Cloudsurfer. The Cloudrunner 2 are technically stability running shoes, as they feature a supportive heel clip and the Cloud Elements are made wider. Given that you currently wear neutral running shoes, we'd suggest opting for the Cloudeclipse and Cloudsurfer. Hope this helps.

@@run4it Thanks for the reply. This help me a lots. I still want to ask some more questions. 1. You said that surfer is softer but eclipse is more cushion, So i want to ask what is your term for cushion. Can you please give me more of your information? (I thought soft= cushion in the past) 2. Is eclipse too similar to superblast ? I feel like both shoe gonna be suit for longer run or eclipse can be really good daily shoe? Thank you for your time and effort for the community!
@run4it
@run4it Ай бұрын
@@win3326 no problem. Generally, yes, softer means more cushioned. However, this doesn’t apply in every case. To explain further, it’s relatively easy for a brand to make a midsole foam very soft. It’s much harder to make a foam feel both soft and energetic (responsive). Models such as the Cloudsurfer have a very soft step in feel and feel soft to run in. However, as the foam is so soft, it compresses a lot. This can lead to the foam ‘bottoming’ out and you feeling more of the ground under your feet. In contrast, the Cloudeclipse cushioning feels slightly firmer. But this is because the foam is more resilient and offers better energy return. This means the foam will maintain its structure more effectively and ultimately feel more cushioned/protective. So, to answer your question, cushioning is best defined as how easy it can make your running feel and how much stress it lowers on your working muscles. For example, the chances are that the Cloudeclipse will feel like they’re taking more load off your legs than the Cloudsufer. The Cloudeclipse should feel pretty different to the Superblast. And, the Cloudeclipse are brilliant daily mileage shoes. In fact, they’re probably one of the best that have ever been made. Having said that, the Cloudsurfer are a very good option for what you’re looking to use them for. In reality, they’re both brilliant running shoes, so you might like them equally for different reasons.

How heavy are you? I am an older runner (66!) who weighs about 80 kg (slightly less when fully fit). Currently injured but looking or a pair of shoes to get me back into running. I obviously run pretty slowly these days but I do still do intervals, hills, tempos etc and enjoy running hard(ish). Can't wear ultra light shoes or stripped down racers. Don't like a midsole that is too squishy, always found them to cause problems with the Achilles and knees. This shoe sounds suitable. What do you reckon?
@run4it
@run4it 7 ай бұрын
Hi - thanks for your comment. I weigh around 72-73 kg. The Cloudeclipse are maximum cushioned shoes. However, they are slightly firmer than some of the other options within this category. For example, the Nike Invincible Run 3 feels a lot softer underfoot. If you're looking for lots of protection, but not lots of underfoot softness, the Cloudeclipse could be an option for you. You should be able to see the range of paces I've run at with the Cloudeclipse in the video on the Strava screen shot (6:39 time stamp in video). This shows off the versatility of the midsole. Having said that, you may prefer the feeling of the Cloudmonster for some harder effort runs. The Cloudmonster are maximum cushioning running shoes, but it's very likely they'll feel firmer underfoot than the Cloudeclipse. That's because the Cloudmonster features a full-length Speedboard, that sits directly under your feet. This Speedboard can improve propulsion and energy return - they can therefore feel better for harder efforts, as you may more get back what you put into the shoes. Hope this helps.

@@markbateman9222 I got this pair a week ago and I tried it for barely 30KM run by far. All I could say say is the midsole is much firmer than it seems. Sadly to say the midsole is too hard for me to put on miles in it.
