Michael Cane's accent in this movie sounds like every time he attempted to add southernness to his voice his British accent attacked it like a white blood cell and it just resulted in some messy glob by the end of each line.

It's like the Revolutionary War in a voice. The Americans and the British, fighting for dominance.

During the era in which Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, etc... ruled Eastern cinemas, Hollywood chose to push Steven Seagal as a martial arts star. **facepalm**

Which is sad because we had Jean Claude and Chuck Norris as options.

20:12 That reaction was priceless! (Yours and Critic’s) 🤣 I think the only thing that would make it complete would be if he could have worked in Michael Caine from Austin Powers; Goldmember saying, “This ain’t my first “row-day-oh” cowboy!”

The only version of Aikido that I accept is Venusian Aikido. It's from Doctor Who, is completely fictional, and Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor actually looks like a badass doing it.

As a Texan i can say we have like 5 distinct accents for the regions of Texas and Caine didnt sound like any of them and 2 the thing about black hair is that under certain lighting conditions black looks brown and people can have black hair and brown beards naturally.

It's funny to hear people try and speak with the southern accent and fail at it. 😂

20:14-20:19 Funny part for me is, when I saw the review (haven’t seen the movie, btw) and he played the clips of him talking, I assumed it was southern just because there was the hint of a twang. Then this happened and I let a “I KNEW IT!” while also sad that he was trying to sound like he’s from here. Lol

"If it's that good and works that well, then why does nobody use it?" Because supposedly, if you believe the people who DO practice it, the martial arts world has 'blacklisted it because it's too good' is the last thing I heard from them in terms of an explanation

You know a movie’s so bad that it’s good when it involves Steven Seagal, Michael Caine, John C. McGinley, and R. Lee Ermey. Admittedly I’ve only seen Hard To Kill and Out For Justice and the funny thing is that i recently went back and recognized one of Seagal’s movies Above The Law (1988) was briefly featured in one of my all time favorite comedy films Step Brothers which cracks me up every time i get to that part of the movie. Thank you so much Nate and Nick for watching and reacting to NC’s review of On Deadly Ground. I’ll keep my fingers crossed in the hopes that his next one will be for HTK.

Thank you for pointing out that modern horses are not Native to the Americas. There were horses in the Americas prior to European colonization, but those species had all died out long by the time Columbus landed at Nassau. Many things we think of as "belonging" to a culture are actually recent inventions. Irish potatoes Jewish potato pancakes Russian potato vodka Italian tomato sauce Belgian chocolate Swiss chocolate French vanilla African peanuts Even the peppers used in Chinese and Korean cuisine (ex. Sichuan sauce, kimchi, etc.) All Native to the Americas. Pre-1492, NONE of those things existed. Works the other way around, too. Colombian coffee, when coffee is indigenous to the Middle East.

Don't forget the one Steven's seGaul movie where he was playing a police officer with 1 of the Wayne's brothers. I believe it was. Funny as hell they strapped him to a lie detector test and asked him. Have you ever killed anyone and he said? Yes, have you ever been convicted of a crime and he said? Yes, have you ever accidentally shot someone? Yes, and all the suddenly the guy looks back at the machine and realizes. He was 100% telling the truth.

As someone from New England, I can guarantee even the worst New England accents don't sound half as bad as whatever the hell Caine was doing. I'm sure if you showed him a clip from this film now he would just pretend he forgot he was in it.

While I've never seen a Seagal movie, I've seen his ego, which is why the most impressive part of Executive Decision is how they somehow managed to convince Seagal to allow them to kill his character off at all, let alone as early in the movie as both you guys and the Critic himself said.

Half Past Dead is also one of Seahawk’s worst film. Ja Rule said no to being in 2 Fast 2 Furious which would’ve change his life for the better if he had said Yes…..but he chose to star in Half Past Dead with one of the worst action stars and around the time Half Past Dead came out, it was already well known.
