That's just how modern life progression works it seems. Childhood/Adolescence has been prolonged by society even beyond the early twenties and as a result of that many people get into a 'life crisis' around mid to end twenties.

It was kind of sad when you talked about the things you can't do anymore when you grow older. I'm 18yo and have never really done anything in my life. I was always just sitting around, going to school, watching yt videos and had big ideas about what I wanted to do and to become one day. But I never did anything of that. I was playing drums for five years but at the beginning of the senior classes I had no time to continue the lessons and eventually lost interest. I've always got the feeling that I was missing out on many things other people would do in my age. I mean, I can draw, I can write but I never did anything out of my talents. Since two years now I'm writing a fantasy novel series, in the last months I had so many ideas for other novels I could write. Recently I started kpop dancing which I love. I'm writing rap lyrics, I'm making youtube videos for a couple of months (with almost no subscribers or views but well... I guess it's a hard way). I want to spend more time with other people, do the things I love and go out more often. I also plan to visit other countries (Canada, South Korea, Japan) for a year. Maybe I will take singing lessons. I want to study film directing at a university. There are so many things I want to do in my life and now is the time in which I can start realizing some of them. I don't know why I waited so long to think about going to other countries or starting to dance. But life is so short and sometimes some little changes can make so much difference!

Oh yeah, I'm 28 and I understand your feelings entirely. I always blamed time for it, it was always I had to compromise on my interests and obsessions because there simply wasn't enough time for them. In college it was too many classes and now it's too much work, and always it's been too much time wasted sleeping. Nowadays I understand that it is also me simply changing as a person, and not being entirely comfortable with the change. Since you mention singing, music used to move me and I had dreams of being a professional musician or even a composer. I let that fade away after college and about a year ago got pissed off that I was letting a part of myself go. I went and bought an electronic drumset and threw myself into it... but quickly realized that the passion was way different now. I used to be driven by self-improvement, but now I am drumming just for fun and get bored doing the technical exercises that would actually make me better as a drummer. I changed, and the hardest part of all this was accepting that I changed. Same thing with anime for me. 5 years ago I wanted full knowledge, I wanted to understand everything about it from the production to the history. Now? I just want to enjoy a good show as I'm winding down after a hard day of work. My old self would have hated such a passive attitude, and maybe that's the difficulty. I'm cool with who I am, but I also have lingering guilt of letting my younger self down.
@KeeBlade7 жыл бұрын
I was actually already thinking that you should take a break. It's been sounding more and more recently like you need one, and I'm glad your devotion to your job and passion is still strong without making you believe that you need to just buckle down and barrel through the regular storm of verbal abuse you no doubt get. Matt from Super Best Friends Play did the same thing a few months ago, and while his temporary departure may not have been nearly as graceful or well planned as yours (his backlog of prerecorded content was rather small), the amount of support he got from the fanbase was really nice to see. I think you deserve the same.
@Remnaut7 жыл бұрын
I feel like I end up in a similar situation as you are feeling now. I am a person who is easily swayed by other people's opinions, so whenever I hear or see someone their opinions on something, I feel like I lose a bit of how I previously felt about a topic. Granted this isn't always the case, but it does cause a great deal of frustration when I can't remember why I previously felt one way rather than another. You seem to be expressing a similar sentiment that I feel when you were talking about revisiting old passions. It is not so much that I am afraid of changing, but more about losing a record of where I have been.

Just wanted to say that as a (very currently hammered) college student creator, this video represents what I like about you as a person. The willingness to simply state how it is but at the same time stating things that mean something to me personally, even out of sheer synchronicity, means a lot. I have a lot of ideas that I wanted to put to paper earlier in my life and as I've learned more core fundamentals of myself and what I respect I realize I might need to let old ideas die and simply push into deeper pockets of my mind that I will be able to appreciate more than what I have "always wanted to do". Just keep at what you do and know people out there can at the very least love you for who you are man.

I have a friend who is 25 and always complains about how he is getting older and how old he is already. Believe in yourself, you are as young as you feel, age ist just a number. You can still start any sport you like, you can still become fit, you can still learn new things, lose weight, anything. Don't resign at 26.

Hell man, Alan Rickman didn't become an actor until his 40s. Christopher Lee was part of a metal band until he died (well into his 90s). One of the most productive programmers at a place I worked was over fifty years old. Eiji Aonuma is over fifty as well, and he just produced what is (probably) Nintendo's best game ever. Age doesn't necessarily come with decreasing abilities, and it's never too late to be successful. Just keep trucking on! The sports thing is true. It's just another reason competitive sports suck.

at 5:00 Im Trans so I do alot of vocal training to help keep my voice consistently high pitched and natural sounding, I also sing for a chunk of my songs so this will be of interest to you. Look up voice feminization techniques if you want to keep your Coheed singing style. I sing along with alot of coheed myself of course the older stuff is alot easier for me than the newer since they like to go all over the place in pitch now. But it does help to train your voice if you wanna stay in that ambiguous vocal range. Things that help range training :water,Hot teas(green), things that hurt pitch training : coffee, milk,sodas. For male singers its not uncommon to just sit in alto coheeds singer got away from the super high pitch like 7 years ago and hes been sitting there too.

I know this sounds like a cliche but choosing to get fit is a decision you'd never regret. There's plenty of shit out there with cult-like following that claims to change your life for the better- psychedelics, nootropics, nofap, religion, pick up artistry- but none can even pretend to make as big a positive difference as diet and exercise can. I suffered from the same nihilistic malaise as virtually every other internet-dwelling teenager/early 20s male before going to the gym gave me purpose, energy and self-esteem.

The feeling yo udescribe at the beginning is the reason why I'm scared to rewatch FMA2003 because I LOVED it the first time I saw it in march last year (it was my first anime ever). It's also the reason why I fear rewatching TWD for the third time. The first two times I loved the series and it's complex philosophy regarding society and civilization but the third time I found the first three seasons to be good but kind of less enjoyable than the first two times. Hell, season 3 fell from a 10 / 10 to a light 7 / 10 in my ratings. I think it's sometimes good and interesting to rewatch old stuff because it can give you a new exciting view on the shows and movies you loved and maybe you love it more when you see it in a different perspective but some things could be disappointing when rewatching them :/
