I own the same black MK8, and after ruing 2 sets of brakepads in 4 trackdays the first thing that I changed was upgrading to a big brake kit. Rollbars and extra HP are nice, but not if your car cant handle them for more than 10min. Would recommend to all, the biggest weakness of the car, just like they said. Now the car is a beast and can keep going all day!

I put 4 ferodo DS500, racing liquid for brakes and metal hoses. I use to drive fiesta by mountains roads every week and i dont need more. But if some day i drive to much and very hard, the brakes still get hot. But u have to be an animal for get tired your brakes. In a circuit i think is indispensable to improve brakes in any car. Brake cooling can sometimes be required (especially with high performance pads). Braking is converting friction into heat. The better the friction, more the heat. Thus, can happen that better pads perform worse because of small brake discs that heat up quickly, especially with weak or no cooling. Heat can not dissipate quick enough, causing resins in pads to evaporate intensively and eventually brake fluid to boil (especially if any moisture it fluid) .
@ssnerd583
@ssnerd583 7 ай бұрын
as a 5x100 Subaru driver I can attest that this is a fact. I bought a sheet of 6AL4V titanium and made some brake pad shims that helped tremendously with the fluid boiling.....also using the SRF fluid helped as well.

Mk8 st is incredible car out the box. Biggest issue is the brakes since they are the same size from a 125hp st line. It’s no wonder they burn out in half a lap.
@dom3827
@dom3827 Ай бұрын
Why do people think brakes have to do with hp? All about brakes is speed + mass, called kinetic energy. Horsepower is not a factor for braking. Since the 125hp has the same weight, it is equal. It just does not reach that top speed.
@RosskoPeeko
@RosskoPeeko Ай бұрын
@@dom3827 no but more horsepower means a higher top speed witch means additional braking power is required to bring the car down. If going by your logic then why do hyper cars have carbon ceramics the size of the average car wheel if HP doesn’t matter.

@@RosskoPeeko thats literarly what i said. Top speed matters and mass. Hp not. You can have 300 hp on 1 ton vehicle or 300 hp on a 40 ton vehicle. Different top speed. Different energy.

@Spark972
@Spark972 7 ай бұрын
I have the previous gen FiST (182) and about the brakes "issues" the key with this architecture is to deactivate all the safety modules (which I did minus the abs). The car is another animal, it has even better rotation, no timing cut when spinning, and better than everything: no overheating brakes. I can do 30-40 minutes session, I will loose intercooler cooling way before brakes. Setup : PBS pads / Brembo plain discs / braided lines / RB600F.

I also own one, but mine’s the 125hp mild hybrid. Yes, drum brake at the rear, but somehow it’s still a fun car to drive. It’s the perfect daily to me. (Let’s keep in mind the price, of course I’d buy an ST if I could). Oh, and I forgot to say that I put some Pilot Sport 5 on it. You can push it as hard as you can, there’s always enough grip for the 1.0 Ecoboost. 4 years with the Fiesta at the moment and more than 90000km without any problems.

its meant as a sort of shift indicator, if it starts blinking it also means flat shift is avaiable so you can upshift without lifing the gas

When you encounter such person as in the Yaris I think you should drop back for 30 seconds and then flat out again it doesn’t seem worth it to go into the back of them because they don’t know the braking points properly I know you shouldn’t have to do that and they should move over but some just don’t and it’s not worth being in harms way because some lemon thinks his skill level is much higher than it actually is!
