Arguably the most beautifully filmed, and scored Bondfilm with the best story, the best Bond girl, and the most poignant ending. Lazenby did remarkably well for someone who had NEVER ACTED BEFORE. I don’t think Connery would’ve done the script justice at that point in his Bond career.

I've made this point several times on different Bond pages on Facebook. IMHO Connery couldn't have pulled off the Tracy death scene. I just don't see Connery pulling off a Bond scene showing him being vulnerable. Right now there is a poll on a Bond Facebook page about who, not counting Lazenby, could've pulled off the Tracy death scene. Connery is so far a huge winner with Craig and Dalton running neck and neck for second place. Moore and Brosnan hardly have any votes.

Always a pleasure to revisit this excellent chapter in the James Bond saga, and to meet fellow fans of it. This film had one of the best locations, ski chases, soundtracks, and based-upon novels. And then there was Teresa, excellently portrayed by Diana Rigg, who stole James’ heart. A tearjerker ending-for a Bond flick no less. Good show, 007.

I've always thought that the night time ski chase was a remarkable job of filming, nice music, and beautiful to look at. As I watched this again, I noticed how beautiful the photography is of the helicopters flying to Piz Gloria during sunrise. No matter that this was filmed using 1969 technology, IMHO, it's the best Bond film as far as photography goes. I commented last night on another OHMSS site . Here I go again:- George Lazenby had been given the muddy end of the stick. The world in general resented his having the temerity to fill Sir Sean's shoes and fill them he did, to overflowing; He is by far the better more realistic Bond than any one else. He marched to a different drummer and that was his downfall with the powers might be . He attended the premier in London sporting a full beard so what??!! The fools held that against him. Should Batman attend a premier in costume? They goofed when they replaced Lazenby. His interpretation of 007 was spot on from the barrel sequence onwards . His was a grittier Bond, not relying on the eyebrows nor the make- up . Fleming would have been proud. I saw "OHMSS" last weekend after seeing that miserable, disjointed mess "No Time To Die" . They have killed the franchise . Anybody out there knows where George Lazenby is at present? Broccoli owes him an apology .

He's doing fine. In fact I met him a few years ago, pretty sure his time with the franchise was not a wasted opportunity.
@thomaschacko63202 жыл бұрын
George Lazenby has been my favourite Bond since Day One - in my favourite film! From his gun barrel entrance, the fight on the beach, and that classic line, “This never happened to the other fellow,” I knew we were in for a great time! I did not miss Mr Connery at all, with his complaining and sleepwalking performances in the previous two films. (And he came back looking like Lazenby’s father in a total piece of crap!) I’m sorry he didn’t do more Bonds and solidify his position but, maybe he was tired of all the bad press he received, before and after the film’s release. Also, it’s good that he didn’t stick around to get roughed up by “gay” assassins, a dwarf, “Jaws,” or Grace Jones! Old Man Broccoli called Lazenby “my biggest mistake” - this coming from the one who served us all that crud with Sir Roger (the exception being “For Your Eyes Only”). His bad-mouthing of Lazenby prevented him from getting more work, including the original “Equalizer” TV series. If Lazenby was so horrible, how come Harry Saltzman had planned to use him in non-Bond productions? (Unfortunately not realized.) But as his own man, George Lazenby has lived a fascinating life. Check out the Hulu documentary, “Becoming Bond.” He has had his down moments, such as the loss of a son and a bitter divorce, but has forged ahead in part, by keeping himself in shape. In his eighties, he is what a retired 007 should be. He was doing motocross into his sixties, and last year he was photographed riding a bicycle in London. May he have many more years of good health!
@ΜακηςΛ-ε5ρ2 жыл бұрын
Although Lazenby received much support from Broccoli and Saltzman, he had a less easy ride from the board of United Artists who were none too keen to see him take over the mantle of Bond. On 7 July 1968, test footage of Lazenby and Rigg had been sent to United Artists in New York - and the were less than impressed by what they saw. On 23 September 1968, UA's head man David Picker even flew into London, desperate to tempt Connery back into the fold. But Connery was adamant that he wasn't coming back - EON and UA had made him a star and Connery was now a major player, capable of picking only the roles that interested him. And at this moment, Bond simply didn't interest him at all. It was only reluctantly that UA accepted EON's recommendation that Lazenby be given the part. Thanks for a great tribute to the film .I always think that as a story its one of the best .It is a long film (some of Moores films were so short they seemed like an epsode from a tv series).Also I think Telly Savalas was a brilliant Blofeld .He actually did physical stuff like ski chases etc .In other films Blofeld just sits around issuing orders and stroking a cat . I think Lazenby was much maligned for his performance ,which shows a touching side to Bond .Add in what I think is the best theme and whats not to like ?It doesnt really rely on gadgets ,but on a solid story and I think very good acting .I suppose my acid test is ,if it wasnt a Bond film ,would it stand on its own 2 feet ,and the answer is certainly yes .In some ways it suffers from being part of a franchise where some of the films have been pretty rubbish .The good thing is that it is now being seen as one of the best in the franchise (in my opinion the best)

After seeing this video, it looks like OHMSS has reached #1, while FRWL is barely at #2. Notice that both movies follow the books closely. Do YOU know where you will go when you die? You can know and you MUST know. You that read this, you must be born again to see the kingdom of Heaven, you must truly actually really trust and believe the Gospel, that Jesus the Son of God died for YOUR sins, yes for ALL of YOUR sins, and after he died for all of your sins, he was buried and on the third day he rose from the dead and is no longer dead but is alive right now and forevermore, if you truly truly believe that ALL of your sins have been forgiven, if you accept this forgiveness out of a pure heart sincerely and believe that all of your sins have already been forgiven then according to your faith be it unto you, that's it, you see, by your FAITH you are healed and forgiven of all of your sins simply because you accept forgiveness by what Jesus did for you, you accept his sacrifice for you by FAITH and if you do truly believe that you are forgiven , God knows what you are thinking, and if you truly believe that you are totally forgiven and saved, God accepts you because of your FAITH in His Son Jesus, and you are forgiven by your faith and you are saved and have everlasting life and you shall never perish but have eternal LIFE and no one can ever possibly pluck you out of the hand of God Almighty because you trust and believe in His Son Jesus the Christ of Nazareth. Fear not, only BELIEVE. Pray and ask God to forgive you of all of your sins and give you the gift of eternal life in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and God will hear your sincere prayer and forgive you and you will know that He forgives you and that you are saved , BY FAITH. Lazenby had the bitter assignment of replacing Connery and thus the inevitable comparisson. Diana Rigg was very flattering of Lazenby's performance as Bond and his acting ability. High praise from one of Britain's finest female icons. The problem I had with this film was Telly Savalis as Blofeld. I like Telly Savalis but this wasn't a good role for him, he just wasn't believable. All in all a good Bond film just bad timing for Lazenby. Another actor that I thought portrayed Bond well was Timothy Dalton. I know those aren't some of the most endearing in the saga but he was just a victim of weak scripts and poor plot lines his portrayal couldn't overcome.

Agree with everything you said except about Telly Salavas. I think he is actually my favorite Blofeld! Thank you so much for watching!

George Lazenby was better than Roger Moore. That says a lot in my opinion.

So, after hearing all the praise for this film, and how it's underrated, and it's one of the best Bond films yadda, yadda, yadda, I finally decided to watch the one Bond film I have never seen. I was really built up for this one, and... It sucked.
