Pure majesty! One of the great tragedies of the Bond series is the loss of Peter Hunt as director. His vision for the following film would have been quite interesting with a continuation of this story, as I understand it. This stock car rally chase is one of the best in the series. I love how the Mercedes struggles to keep up with the Cougar on the snow-covered Swiss roads, with it bouncing off the walls of snow created by plowing, and then spins out at the curve and off the roadway briefly. Neither car would be on my list of vehicles for Winter mountain road use, though I would infer from the surefootedness of the Cougar that Tracy was a highly skilled and superior driver compared to the Spectre goons as she out maneuvers them and "didn't even stop for the prize"..
@albertgaspar6272 жыл бұрын

You can criticize George Lazenby all you want (personally, I think he was pretty good and I also think he could have really grown into the part had he stuck around for more movies), but Rigg's performance, the performances of Telly Savalas as Blofeld and Gabriele Ferzetti as Draco, the sumptuous locales and the ski chases, and just the overall quality of the production, make this film a winner.

I looked it up, the novel came out 1964, while racing was banned in 1955 in Switzerland (after a crash during a Formula 1 race in france. They still don´t allow racing in Switzerland.) I like to think this was a "creative choice" by Fleming, who often ignored reality when writting his novels. However, because Fleming was writting stories that, while based in reality were more like a spy fantasy, it is acceptable, and it works really well, because the unrealistic elements fit into the world he crafted, and so I can ignore it.

That totals 25 Eon Bond films. _(The non-Eon Bond films--namely, the 1967 comedy spoof Casino Royale and the 1983 film Never Say Never Again with Sean Connery as Bond--are generally not counted as "real" Bond movies.)_ So the answer to your question is "sort of".
