I have used Sense Arena on the ice with my junior team after practice. The boys loved it! Great tool when you don’t have any shooters or you just want to go through a couple specific reactions.

@@BonesyTV great video but I'm wondering how the system picks up your leg pads? Or is it only monitoring your gloves... Thanks!

Very cool. The fact that you can replay a scenario over and over to practice that one thing is really usefully. Now I just need to get a patch of ice.

Small patch is all you need!! Makes me want to get a garage and convert it to a small sheet/ locker room

Very cool. Only negative is part of the sales pitch for the Sense Arena is to the able to train off ice without the wear and tear on the hips, knees, ankles. However, that does take away from the reality aspect of it like you were doing. But, the trade off is your back to the wear and tear on the body again…I guess if you can get on the ice without anyone else out there buzzing pucks around you, this would be great to do, but that would be a very small minority of goalies out there.

Yeah I wish I had a small patch of ice in a garage just for this but I obviously don’t have money like that. And it is nice to be able to work on things from your living room and not have to drop into the butterfly every time. There have been a few times that I’ve put my knee guards on and added some drops but it adds some extra unnecessary strain

That looks exhausting! I was tired for you lmao. But the sense arena looks great, i can see the off ice applications but it just makes way more sense on ice obviously. Love how they integrated deflections and screens into it! Might be useful on the ODR when you dont have any shooters!

I think if you can get ice and can't have a coach this is a great substitute. Those drills look tough! And the bodies really screen you. Quick question, do you make the drill selections with your eyes through the unit?
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
Good point! And you make menu selections with your eyes through the unit. Bails all just pointing with the headset
@mtlgoalie623 жыл бұрын
@@BonesyTV That's very cool. I thought you might need to go into an app on your phone or an iPad to set up the drills. I am still amazed at how real it feels to you as the user. The puck drop after a save is always cool to see.

Hey bones! Just discovered your vids looking for some off ice substitutions for on ice typed drills and hand eye. Really looking to get into better shape for this upcoming season and get back to where I was! Any tips on how I should be working out in the gym along with these off ice goalie specific drills? I’ve tried to look for good workout splits for goalies and can’t find much! Thanks!
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
When it comes to gym/ off ice workouts I’m not really the one to ask. I’d checkout channels like “Hockey Training” and “GoalieTrainingProTV” but if you’re looking for some goalie specific hand eye stuff I’d check out visual edge and then sense arena. Both aren’t exactly cheap but they’re effective. But if you want to go the old school route there’s plenty of different juggling drills you can do and then I’ve always been a fan of throwing a ball against a wall and catching with my glove or the Velcro “Blocker Sleeve”
@RyanNoise3 жыл бұрын
Does this thing recognize your center mass? If you are lined up and it hits you square in the chest will it “stop” the puck or will it blow through you. In other words if you don’t get your glove or blocker on it will it still register in some accurate way?
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it has a chest that will stop pucks and then part of your forearms coming out of your gloves. And you can calibrate your stick length too
@RyanNoise3 жыл бұрын
@@BonesyTV thanks for the quick response , I may grab one for Black Friday. Do you have a promo code or some way of getting credit for selling me on this thing?

Looks like a great supplemental tool if you've got access to private ice or synthetic tiles, but the graphics leave a lot to be desired. Also do you get any feedback when you make the save or is it difficult to figure out where the puck goes sometimes?
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
They keep making little Improvements to the visuals but yeah not exactly NHL 22 quality. And yeah the controllers will vibrate when you make a save and you get the specific sound when it hits your glove or blocker.

I have sense arena but when I put the glove sleeves on my glove isn’t in the right place and my blocker is upside down, there is nothing to change this in sense arena and their support page is useless does anybody know how to fix this
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have the blocker sleeve on upside down. And then there’s a “Body Setup” on the top left of the menu that will let you switch the gloves to the sleeves option and that should get the gloves in the right place
