Back in 1979-1980 I was a Silk Screener at Atari and did work on all of the Asteroid Side panel that were part of the Arcade game. Your video show the silk screen machine which I used and I would like to say that the silk screen dept was not a good place to work for. They used a UV cured ink which I was told they had no idear of the side effects and we had Bad managers/ supervisor. Pay was low at $3.50 a hour.

Normally I would say it would be so cool to work there and be a part of history! With low pay and potential hazards included maybe not so fun after all

An interesting display. As someone who was there, a lot of your interior footage is not from the buildings you were showing from the outside, but I suspect finding images of the inside might be difficult these days. I lived in just about everyone of those buildings. 1265 Borregas was not only the HQ, but very early on in that location (maybe around 77), the bottom floor was all engineering. Then Engineering moved to 1272 Borregas around 1978 for a number of years,, and eventually to 1501 McCarthy Blvd in Milpitas around 1982 (dates approximate.)

I worked in 1196 for nearly 3 years, surely not for Atari. I know every secret corners in this little building. As we were leaving the building, we learned Google has bought it months back. Who knows if it is still standing.

All things must pass. Those buildings are historic for silicon valley however the new replaces the old. Must be nice knowing you shared the space of 1196 after Atari. Thank you for watching!

Great video Gadget Martian! I recently have been getting into video game history and find this sort of stuff interesting. I hope you don't mind, I recently made a video on my channel going over the Atari HQ and google buildings and used some of your footage in my video.

That was interesting, maybe one of the first local companies to have that type of work environment? They succeeded in getting their employees to never want to leave!

Thank you! Crazy how that work mentality and culture is more common today however back then it was revolutionary. I can see how Atari needed to have this type of work culture to inspire creativity. Oh and thanks for your tube buddy advice! The service made this past video much easier to produce and post! 👍

Yes! The assembly line at Atari back in the day looks like it was the place to be! 10 years older during that time and I would have been the ideal age to be working there! Now all we have are old videos and faint memories of that era when a Billion Dollar industry was being formed. History
