Goonies is my childhood. It represents dreams, friendship and all the good memories. We dreamt about finding a treasure buried in our neighborhood just like them. We nicknamed us after them and acted like them, pretending we were them. Today, I can't listen to the instrumental music while walking through my old neighboorhod without sheding a tear. Goonies introduced me to Cyndi Lauper, which I love too and also represents all the "true colors" of the 80's. Recently, I had the priviledge of moving back to my old family house, in this very same street and neighborhood where I have spent the first 30 years of my life (I'm 44 now). All my personal adventure. All of it, a big share of Goonies. So, from the deepest and most sincere part of my soul, Mr. Donner, thank you - and thank this channel for bringing and celebrating this all back. Please, receive a warm hug from Brazil.

This movie also gained a lot of popularity in the 90's on home video and being a kid who grew up in the 90's (born the year after Goonies came out) I really loved this movie and we watched this at a friends birthday party and we loved it. It's just a timeless movie and lets be honest most kids in the 90's kind of sneakely watched 80's movies when their parents werent watching :)

You nailed it when you said " It's a movie...I get it, but it's a story." We've been passing down stories for centuries upon centuries. It's a way that we pass on traditions, values or lessons we've learned in the hopes that these things become clearer for the new generations. As you said, The Goonies is chock full of great lessons for life...one being how to respond to adversity or challenges that seem insurmountable. I could feel a real sincerity and connection with this film in particular and it came through in the editing and the narration of the host. Great job to the film crew, the host, the video editors and all unseen folks contributing to a piece of work like this. I also do my best to pass on these films of the early/mid 1980's to my own son, who's 14 now. He's probably a bigger fan of the Back to the Future films than myself at this point.

A huge thank you to everyone in front and behind the camera for all your hard work. Your opening montage was spot on. “Oh WOW a police chase... awww SHI..... LOL. “ Goonies is more than a movie. As a Marine and being deployed on my own stupid Goonies adventure, obviously left me missing home or just thoughts of any kind of happiness. But I watched this darn movie so many times as a kid that I memorized the entire script. Little did I know that I would use this useful knowledge it would help me take my mind away from all the chaos surrounding me during a combat deployment because I would replay the movie over and over in mind. Thanks again for taking me back to the Goon Dock where I never got my ... out.

Thank you so much for doing this that was awesome. A pilgrimage I’ll have to make someday! I was born 3 months after the film was released but man life seemed so simple then!
