WTF is she going on about? Why would her mother not know what happened? Was she not invited to the wedding? Was she not at the church? Did her father not go home and talk to his wife. She doesn't have to worry about explaining to everyone. The guests that were there will tell everyone else. That MIL did that on purpose. The ring probably wasn't missing at all. A man should not strike a woman with his hand, fist or anything else but she should not have slapped him first. There would be no going back for him. He is a mama's boy who can't manage his anger and is useless under pressure. She should be glad she didn't marry him.

A wedding is a union of two families, and this event highlights how vital it is for families to support each other. Instead of creating conflict, families should work together to ensure the couple’s happiness. The lack of understanding and support from the mother-in-law can be seen as an obstacle to the couple’s future harmony.

Exactly. If he was bold enough to lose control so easily and in a public place with many witnesses how violent would he become after marriage in the privacy of the home. And he didn't slap her. He made a fist and punched her. To strike before marriage like that he definitely would have been an abusive husband. She really dodged a big bullet. Never accept a partnership with a man whose father is gone and the mother clings to the son. She will always be first and he will always take her side. The pain of betrayal now is nothing compared to what it would have become had she married him.

I won’t address the issues Thomas has, because everyone is addressing them including the author of the story. I did want to add this: women don’t get a free pass on committing domestic violence. Difference between a woman's slap and a man's fist a fist hurts a slap stings.

There is no difference. She started it and her actions were never addressed. This is fiction, but a reflex of the real world. When the man returns the favor, then he is in the wrong.

The MIL did it on purpose. She started the slapfest. That said, she was saved from her fiancé, who would not trust her in other situations, and his family. Funny she thinks it's good he is on therapy, but has nothing to say regarding her own actions.

Even if future MIL thought her future DIL stole her ring, the church on the wedding day in front of all the guests was not the place to address this issue. Ridiculous! Thomas is a jellyfish, but I can not blame him 100% because she slapped him first. Even though he resorted to a punch like the punk that he is!

There is a huge difference between an open handed slap and a fisted punch to the face. Neither are acceptable; however the first is more of an insult, the other something damaging that can cause broken bones and permanent disfigurement. They are not the same.

She didn't start it-- she did not steal the ring. Her fiance's mother started it all with false accusations. An emotional slap from shock is no justification for a full-on, intentional hit. There is no justification for hitting, especially the face. That is assault!

Please have an editor check your English and look at your story. The accusation occurred at their wedding and later you talk as if the wedding day wasn't in the pasrpt. All this ruined a decent story.

Does everyone forget that she committed domestic violence first? Being female does not give you license to hit another person man or woman so don't be surprised when they hit back. He was wrong taking his mother's word without proof but you had no right to hit him first . Going to give this soppy story 2 thumbs down. And block anymore sad sack tripe from messing up my page.

Such a ridiculous story, switching pronouns beyond distracting, mil NUTS, never ever should you not call the police when hit. This gives women - especially young women - the WRONG message. Then the mother makes no sense-was she not at the wedding??? How could she not know what was going on, wonders where she is- calling leaving msgs. But never thought to check her apt???? This is such a waste of time. The story line doesn't make sense

Some of these stories are fine but the ones where the young woman is as strong as a wet rag is never interesting to me. Any woman who doesn’t call the police after being hit by a man is too weak and too immature to marry. I suspect the author is young and trying to write a good story but the lack of a proper foundation and research.
