1985 was a bad one alright, but I remember making small squares of hay in early June that year. It rained till mid October but we sowed winter barley in great conditions after that. Didn’t happen this year…. On off grazing wasn’t about those times. It’s a great system in dodgy weather it works well.

Its never been as wet.were on dry land and its stil wet. Had wealings grazing last few paddocks but doing damage.tough year.roll on 2024

Ye we have done a little, but I prefer grazing. Lot of work in it. It definitely has a place in certain scenarios

That field was coming up at 1700kgDM/ha and the AFC is 900kgDM/ha

Weanling heifers would graze it off no problem with far less damage, it was a terrible wet second half to the year, with cows drying off shortly grass in the diet is of limited advantage

We contract rear so unfortunately I don't have the option of weanlings.
