On our way to the wine region

Having left Tbilisi we were heading slowly into the wine region. Our first stop was the Ujarma Fortress Castle, it dates back to the 3rd century. The two story church was built in what was the prison before. We stayed the night at the parking near the beautiful Alaverdi Monastery. We had dinner in the restaurant opposite the entrance and tasted some nice Georgian wines there. The next day we continued further in the wine region and visited Gremi’s Archangels’ complex. Next stop will be a wine tour.
