I had same halo problem on my howa .243 stainless steel barrel and base of moderator. Swapped it to my howa .223 all black barrel and moderator no problems at all.

The halo is caused by the IR lamp reflecting on the grain or silencer from the rifle. I had this problem myself with a pulsar f455. To solve this I mounted an external adjustable beam IR 940 lamp from Pulsar on the weaverail. This solved the problem with the halo.

The clarity on the badger is remarkable. Good calling and shooting by Roy. Shooting deer at night with NV or a thermal should not be a fall back position or worse the default. Why is it being done? Greed for killing animals for an ever decreasing £/kg, because it is "fun", ignorance and of course: total lack of respect for our animals. I know that no Fieldsports Channel viewers and especially not Fieldsports Nation members will resort to this. After all, best practice from other countries shows we don't have to do it.

Exactly which is why I don't' shoot foxes at night either. Its too easy. They need to be shot during the day with a shotgun.
