this was a very helpful video. the tip for the gasket was helpful. I think I need to replace the generator on mine because im getting quite the resistance when spinning the cleaner knob.

Yep, that's a clear sign of needing to replace the gen.

Really looking forward to seeing the video on turning this into a floor lamp. That's going to be cool. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

I'm soon going to start working on a CQ lamp dated May 19, 1919. I've found a filler cap that utilizes a Schrader valve allowing the use of bicycle pump. Any thoughts on this? What pressure would you pump it to? I've refurbished a few Coleman lanterns. The latest being a 200A. This will be my first lamp project.

Before you go replacing that generator and spending money you might not need to youtuber King Coleman has a great video on how to clean those generators out. Maybe give that a try first just to see?

Wouldn't you know it, just as your comment came up, I was watching that exact video. I'm definitely going to give that a shot first. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't think making that into a floor lamp is a good idea for a whole bunch of reasons. May I suggest you just make a really really heavy, really really stable, fireproof STAND for the original unmodified table lamp ?

There's been several folk on the CCF who've done this conversion and they all report that they are very stable. Even if it did fall over, pretty much nothing would happen. Well, i'd break a shade, so that'd be $$, but it's unlikely to spray fuel everywhere. With that said, fabbing up a bigger base or maybe attaching it to an old brake rotor may not be a bad idea. Moar video material!!! :)

What gasket did you use to stack on the original lead seal?? Thank you!

I just put a #2 cap washer on it. Turns out I really didn't need it, as I took it off later and it sealed fine without the gasket.
