Just got mine from B.C. a few days ago and it has to be the best 7 string I've ever played. Casey at B.C. built it flawless. Happy to of been the first customer to get one of these other than the man himself. It's funny how this worked out because several months before he was endorsed, I went to B.C. to have an Ironbird made in homage to Rutan, that would of been like his primary Red 6 string, but I was going to have a few extra things done to it. After a few months and I think during that, the endorsement was handed out and I got a chance to turn my build in to get one of these. Amazing guitars...the photos and videos don't do it justice at all. How it feels and plays is just perfect too, and it's mean! I will probably dump the Fishmans for EMG's in mine to my preference. I also have stainless steel frets and schaller locking tuners on mine which Erik opted not to have. I'm not quite sure why he opted not to have those, the stainless frets are amazing and the locking tuners make changing strings so much easier.

For Erik, it's all about the tone.
@antares4975 Жыл бұрын
The tuning isn't that complicated. I use the same, because C# is my favorite choise of six string, so it's G# on the Seven. I use to write riffs on my six string, so i have a whole deeper string when i feel the need to get a bit deeper. It's a cool way to think of riffing in my opinion - instead of mumbling around the deepest notes possible and lacking of contrast again to get any lower when you need to, you always have your doom string left! 7 string guitars are great. I'd love to own this ironbird!

This guitar looks killer! G# tuning sounds so damn metal! Nice with the string gauges! I have a problem on my 7 string…need to tune the Low B about 15 cent more flat than rest of the strings before it sounds in tune (i did intonation)? Any idea of what’s causing this issue? I guess it’s not a problem on this guitar, when Erik has a pro tech on it😜

@@daniellievemaa1949 it also sounds like the string has this “vibrating” sound to it…like it’s out of tune with itself?…I have lowered pickups, so it’s not because of them
@daniellievemaa19493 жыл бұрын
@@misanthropolist1808 ok, then only thing I can think of is the string sitting too high. But anyway it's normal not to tune the low string up to perfect pitch cause it's going to go sharp when you hit it hard. I mean check out some of the most recent metallica live videos. When they are playing songs in d tuning they are hitting the low string constantly out of tune. it sounds horrible.
@nckhed Жыл бұрын
@@daniellievemaa1949 You're definitely right about not tuning the low E to perfect pitch. Every time I try, it goes very sharp when I play, and I do have a heavy attack. Tuning it a hair flat keeps it in tune with the other strings no matter how hard or soft my attack is.
