Yes, I don't know how he kept himself from uttering a few choice words and storming out himself when confronted for the umpteenth time with her negativity and rudeness, and his cloud cuckoo-land 'hooray-Henry'-style idiocy. They both seemed lost in their own bubbles of some sort of class-based entitlement, in which they'd lost touch completely with current realities. They desperately needed a fresh pair of eyes but they couldn't see or didn't want to know that what they proposed to offer- a casual, family/friendly style of hospitality in a semi-derelict, once beautiful country pile - was not marketable for the price they wanted to charge. They could at least have listened respectfully to Simon's expertise on room/ hospitality prices, and offered their own alternative ideas for potentially profitable events if they didn't feel any enthusiasm for the one he suggested. But in the end, even the 'jazz club' turned out to be nothing but a one-off private party for friends. Possibly the idea of doing anything that smacked of business or commerce, involving having to mingle with, and horror-of-horrors, even serve the (potentially non-posh) general public, actually just revolted them - thus the curiously defensive attitude.. As with a lot of entitled people born into privilege, they wanted to have their lovely place to live and money to roll in from somewhere, but in the end weren't prepared to put themselves out, in the slightest, to earn any of it.

Dear me, what a pair, Francis reminds me of the Harry Enfield character "Mr Nice but Dim" He seems totally gormless, and even after seeing the other wedding venue, with its fabulous decor and furniture, he still thought him charging more for his dirty dilapidated, mould ridden ruin was justifiable. As for Kishandra, I reckon she was raised in a council housing estate somewhere, never taught etiquette or manners, she probably thought marrying Mr Nice but Dim would lead to a life of luxury, now she is stuck in that crumbling ruin, cold, dirty and a health hazard with all that mould.
@wisdomseekertv Жыл бұрын
You are quite quick to jump to conclusions. Not that quick witted yourself if you base your understanding of a person you never met on a scripted television show. Haha, this world is really something isn't it? I can attest to Francis Fulford not being even close to "dim". On the contrary - quite clever. He's laid back, not a go-getter business minded sort of person. It's not in his nature. A lot of these estates are built with a big cash flow in mind. After the modernization of the western world at the turn of the last century (ca. 1900) these families have had to pay for the upkeep with little to no cash flow. Inheritance- and tax laws have done a great deal of damage as well. Although these laws are on their way of being modernized. Slowly, all too slowly, but still on it's way.

@@izzyfarmer2500 I happened to see the house on a ghost hunting show on YT. It looked the best I’d ever seen it. The Lord of the Manor on the other hand seemed well oiled.

It's so sad to see such an important piece of history in such hands. One can hope that the next owners, be they the heirs to the estate, or perhaps the National Trust, will do better by the house.

I got 5 minutes and went straight to the comments and wasn't disappointed. My gut feeling was correct, something odd about the owners.

How drunk were these people during filming?

I began to believe this episode was entirely staged for effect - particularly since the couple enlisted Simon's advice yet, at every turn, gave excuses why Simon's ideas were not feasible. No doubt - Simon has the patience of a saint. At the end, his best advice should have been for them to 'sell,' and quickly, while the house still stands.

I have my doubts that two elitists would agree to acting like such arses for a program.

@LQOTW which is why it is most likely staged /scripted.

Imagine 800 years of that attitude! I noticed we saw neither hide nor hair of children or friends. The land itself was beautiful. The sense of entitlement was obscene. As an American, and an Anglophile, I now know why my Jamestown ancestors risked their lives on rickety boats, escaping across unknown waters to an unknown destiny which included the "starving times," epidemics, and other dangers. God bless and save us all.

Now have a country that cares more about guns then kids lives, let's face it if the U.S had stayed part of the Commonwealth they would have all the things they want like free health care and gun control and affordable education.

I finally know how these beautiful Mansions end up as Ruins. I have a 1600 sq ft rental house that I make 40k a year on. With something like this It should make 200k+ a year easy. They both act privileged and arrogant. I'm sure their kids will sell what's left standing one day because of their parents mishandling of the estate
