Your eyes are not deceiving you, the footage they use for the clean opening/ending songs is in fact of a lower quality. It's seems toei animation lost the masters so they just use old vhs footage and upscale to hd, that explains some of the screen burning and ghosting. I am curious about the newer SuperS Blu-ray set. In the older Viz media set of SuperS, they did add the 3-part Special and they even went as far as placing the special in chronological order in the episode menu. So I'm wondering if they will do the same thing for the newer set. You see I like to collect Sailor Moon Blurays from around the world like French or German blurays and even the Australian blurays and none of them has the special included.

That makes perfect sense re: the clean opening and ending sequences. Thank you for clarifying that! When it comes to Super S, whenever that is announced and released, if they’ve included the specials before, one would like to hope they’d include on the complete collection Blu-ray too. (Though anime licensing can be very weird at times.) Nice to hear they even put in chronological order on an older release too! Oh wow! That’s awesome to hear you collect them from around the world! I bet you have quite a collection now? And very interesting to hear the specials weren’t included in other regions. I imagine there’s likely some kind of licensing element involved that meant is wasn’t included elsewhere.

@@jeraffemy usually in countries like Germany and France, the TV specials and the movies specials are usually bundled together in a separate dvd/bluray release. Yes I do have big collection but problem is space lol
