I had snow (Edit: nothing on the ground, light flakes falling,) but no Ficmas decoration as my clock was not Dec 1 yet. I play on a dedicated server and everything spawned at midnight.

If you didn't find the calendar, you might need to check your settings to make sure that you have turned on events.
