On The Fly gets early access to the hottest EDF jet ever! The Havoc Xe has arrived and with it came some pretty incredible numbers. So incredible that some thought they were unattainable. I have a question about the flap/elevator mix. On all of my propeller models, it takes down elevator to offset flap deployment ( as it should due to increased angle of attack when flaps are deployed ). On my Viper, this is also true, it needs down elevator mix. On the F-4, it requires an up elevator mix to keep the nose from going down when flaps are deployed. Of course, each model is different and may require different mixes. What mix do you recommend for the Havoc? I know the manual provides a % mix, but it does not indicate which way, up or down elevator. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Hi i work at a local hobbyshop in Australia, I have had two customers with the havoc had the same issue, when flying in as3x mode it goes into a hard snap roll. has there been any other reports of this. When flying in safe mode it flys fine with no issues.

It's not about the haters, all Ali or HH had to do is when they started taking pre-orders is released this video. Then any doubt or negative comments would've been completely avoided. It's a simple as that and hopefully lessons learned. With that said I'm very impressed this is a first for EDF jets and i'm glad I have one on order.

And by the way. I have a brand new in the box Eflite Havoc XE BNF setting here waiting to be flown. I purchased it knowing the marketing hype is over the top. I like RC airplanes, pretty much anything that flies. I don't need to impress anyone with "mine is faster or lasts longer. This plane has a decent speed range even if it goes no faster straight and level than any other EDF in this weight, power and equipment class. I like the way it looks and it appears to have rugged enough landing gear to handle grass fields. EFlite HH is generally pretty good to deal with on returns if needed and I have no other Eflite EDF jets so I figured what the hell. I have no doubt at all that there are other 80mm jets in this price range with performance numbers that will match the Havoc Xe or certainly close enough for me. I think manufacturers making speed claims should use straight and level corrected for DA as the benchmark and then if they want to state what the aircraft can achieve in a vertical dive without ripping the wings off or going into flutter than great, no problem with that but primary speed benchmark should be straight and level.

148 is impressive even if it is a drop down you're not going to get faster than that with a foam jet of any brand guys! I've seen and I have flown enough phone to know what it can and cannot do. For a 6s power system, you can't beat that speed! I am curious if you can put a castle ESC in it and try a test on that motor? Your reps was giving me a hard time when I'm with posting on my group EDF jet Clubhouse about is only having a 3-minute fight time, I have retracted that statement simply because I know this system is very efficient even at WOT. Cuz I fly mine FMS unit at 4 minutes of mostly WOT.

Hard to see was that a 7000mah? 3% keep a eye on that pack.... guys keep your batterys above 20% and they will live longer. :) Cool flight.

Yep. And by my calculations a 5000mAh kept above 20% will still get you between 12 and 13 minutes. So you could fly more aggressively and still get close to 10 minutes.

In all fairness they were maxing it out. they say 10-20 they DOUBLED that lol the discharge curve is not linear so arguably 12 min decent flight you could come down with 15-25% left prob. somewhere in that range. id say still fair claims. and down hill speed is about all max speed claims so thats not all lie there. I may get one.

@@Cerus98 Speed out of a dive is what's important to you. Some people like me would like to know top speed straight and level with winds at the time taken into account. I don't really think that's too much to ask manufacturers to post in their performance claims. The guys doing this video could have easily included this information, but according to you, nobody cares to know that information. Yes, as you imply, everyone watching this video would have been completely disinterested in seeing that test included as it would have been a completely pointless waste of time.

what makes the battery last so long? is it the aerodynamics of the airframe? is it the well balanced EDF out of the box? or is it just the ability to put such a large battery inside, which in that case, you cant hit the top speed while getting those long flight times

Sure you can hit the top speed. Big battery equals lots of weight. Lots of weight up high is lots of potential energy. Place jet in a dive with heavy battery and it will go faster than a lightweight smaller battery. (In a dive which is what they did in this video.)

Love the video and the plane, but I kind of agree that I don't like "out of a dive" speeds as the one being quoted for top speed. To me a plane's top speed is what it will do straight and level in zero wind. But 20+ minutes on any EDF, even flying conservative is not something I thought I would ever see, that was impressive!

This is an impressive fan!! Eflite has used the FMS fan and I have loved it from day one! If I can get my Freewing 80mm F-5 to do 140mph with this combo, a super clean airframe like this is for sure capable of more! And I have an FMS 80mm Hawk with this same fan and can get 10 min flights on 6s 30c 4000mah pack. Just flying around doing touch n goes... with full throttle mixed in. Correct, hi speed long power dive using a GPS which is not an accurate measure of actual airspeed. Note the high curving dive made by this experienced jet pilot, you can bet he had the wind behind him and remember wind aloft are always higher than closer to the ground. GPS measures ground speed not airspeed so any wind will make it's groundspeed higher than actual airspeed.

My Night Vapor can fly faster than the Havoc XE. Here's how it was achieved: Attached 5000 lipo to Night Vapor and friend launched from high cliff with me standing at bottom of cliff. Night Vapor went by me doing 180 mph!

Bernard Alderking - First of all - you stated that gps isn’t an accurate measurement of airspeed. Well hooray for captain obvious. GPS doesn’t measure airspeed and is not a replacement for said measurement. It is ground speed. Secondly - all planes with advertised speeds are using GPS based ground speed. Airspeed is irrelevant because the two are not being compared. Ground speed is the easiest to measure by the pilot using a variety of cheap devices.

This would be the most accurate way to benchmark basic speed performance for comparison purposes. That's what I am advocating. So we both agree that GPS measures ground speed. Your two points above are totally pointless. And wow, airspeed of an aircraft is irrelevant. Airspeed is everything for an airplane. You would not need to compare the two if one were to use a standardized test as I described. Your supposed argument is a total non-sequitar. Gooday Mr Cerus98 and in the end, enjoy your Havoc XE! first off, 20 mins on a phone timer is very un reliable. I want to see the timer on the TRANSMITTER do 10+ mins because you should be above 25% to run the timer. Of course if I cut the throttle 90% of the time, fly in small circles to keep up speed and glide ill get more time, but at that point might as well get an actual glider. 6 mins is probably more realistic, which is great btw

Incorrect, you do not have to be above 25% to run the timer. You have to program your radio that way. I do not program my radio that way. I think we can rely on the timer of an Iphone at this point. This was 21 REAL minutes in the air. He never said 21 minutes of over 25% throttle. If you aren't happy with this, then I don't know what to say.

@@insurancemann1 first off, I never said im not happy with the plane. second, put the 25% throttle setting and make it official is all im saying. you can clearly see even in the sped up parts the pilot is circling tight riding the wind. which is fine, like i said even 6 minutes would be good, but its very misleading to make people think you can fly normally and get even close to 10-15 minutes. he was at 3% on a 7000mah battery after 20 mins of "gliding" (most likely with safe on) so id say realistically 6-9 mins if you land before you toast your battery like a normal pilot. Again, that is still good.

I wouldnt have even noticed if the pilot didnt try to show off and go for 20 mins lol. After 12 mins i started to pay attention to how he was flying, I wouldnt go as far as saying its misleading, but yeah not a good look. i'd also like to see it with the 25% throttle setting. Also, there no way in hell he ran that battery to 3% and it wasnt hot at all lol.

LOL I am guessing 8-10min with good throttle management and keeping in in the air like the fast EDF it really is.. and on the Full Throttle Dive, I was assuming over 140mph for this EDF.. would love to see a true high speed straight and level pass.. my guess 120ish .. still on the fence of this one as I keep going back to more scale like EDF jets like the Eflite And Freewing F-16, SU-35, Mig-21, MIrage 2000C V2, and the L-39! LOL
