We have had that same model for two years now and it's great! We run all our water through the softener and a clear source triple filter. You don't notice it when your bringing in good water BUT when the water is not so good were your at it's great 😊

Is filter needed for using the softener for just car washing?

I would imagine there is some difference. I do know some people use the soft water provided by this system for washing vehicles but I think you should contact the manufacturer to find the real answer

Gary, it’s a great add-on to every rv. We hard plumbed ours in the bay forward of the AH bay, against the wall. This way I don’t have to worry about it sitting out. I added brass quick disconnects to make recharging easier. Not sure if softer water aids in generating hair growth but you never know.😎😀

We've had the Double Standard for 8 years now. Love it. BTW, that Camco blue water filter is a 20 micron.

Thanks for the info. The full house filter i replaced was a 5 micron i believe. I do hope to upgrade to the clear source rv filter in the future.

I have used the Clearsource dual filter unit and a double On the Go water softener for two years. As Lennie said it really helps with poor water (like Quartzsite)! Surprised you didn’t already have one of these Gary…

We do have a 14 filter Express water filter system with reverse osmosis and UV light. It seemed to work ok but the tests results I did really showed it is not doing much. The triple Clearsource mobile will replace the express water system soon.

Yep, love my On the go softener. And it lasts a good long time. I bought mine in '16 and have been full time since '17. Still going strong. I have the smaller one (8000 grain I believe) and depending the hardness of the source water I regen every 1-3 weeks. I backflush every 3 months. I have a prefilter before my softener too. It removes some iron and sentiment. Filters don't soften water so it should not be surprising with the results before the install. I did install quick disconnects on mine so it makes the regen and/or backflush that much easier and faster. I used to have a different water meter. I found they didn't last long and weren't really accurate at slow water speeds so no longer use it. Did you review the meter also?

Thanks for the info. I did not review the water meter as it seemed like such a simple object. I guess as long as it gives some sort of ball park reading it will be good enough. Did you use the same one?

@@dadams19111 that is the first time I have heard of that so googled “on the go water softener leaves a thin film on skin”. There was quite a bit of info on that. Seems when going from hard water to soft your skin feels different with the lack of soap scum hard water leaves behind. We have used it for quite a while now and we love it. The appliances are better off as well and the shower glass is much cleaner. Everyone is different though. Hope you find something that works for you.
