A really delightful video. Brings back so many memories of bygone days. People were so happy and life was so simple in the 50's,60's, and 70's . Fantastic times. Thanks, guys, for a lovely video. 👏👏👏

Dan and Mazzy thank you for the trip down memory lane, from my black doll and silver Cross pram,to the mirror above my parents fireplace. Lol that was a man's string vest and pants. Fish and chips were wrapped in newspaper, you ended up with ink of the print on your hands 😅. Life was simple, but it was HOME SWEET HOME. Xx Safe journey home , enjoy your well earned chill out time.

I love Beamish, haven't been since they added the 50's section on. I was born in 1950 and remember all the cookers, tv's, fridges etc. Doesn't seem that long ago. Things were built to last then and even now i can't bear to part with a couple of kitchen items that belonged to my parents. Great vlog, happy memories and glad you found it fascinating too. Thank you. 😊

Thank you so much. Mmm I had a bobbIn knitting set, wesere one of the first in our village to get a black and white tv in 1953 for the coronation. And yes our stove had a hotplate on top. Our first fridge was in 1958.i had a scooter just like that in 1957. And roller skates a year later. Before joining the AirForce aged 17 in 1940 my Father worked part time for 3 yearsas a projectionist in the Odeon Cinema with that same equipment. Yes my Grandma had a kitchenette with a drop down front. There are. a lot of 50st radio programmes on you tube. Yes that was a man’s string vest and undies. I hate community centres too. Thanks again Dan . I will go away or i will be here all night

I remember putting two shillings in the tv it was the only way we could afford a tv, you got three hours viewing, we used to work out what we wanted to watch and if there were adverts which lasted three minutes so we switched the tv off and back on after the three minutes. When the man from the company came to empty the meter they took the payment for the tv and we got back any extra. Changed days.

That was amazing I would love to go there so many memories. My grandad was a miner the reason the sink was separate was because they would come home from the mines black from crawling around in the pit they could wash before going into the house. My grandad sink was in a small outhouse in the back yard. My mum's younger brother died in the mine at 18 it collapsed on him and others and they couldn't get them out in time. Did you no they used to take little bird cages with a canary in it in case they struck gas. If the bird died they new they had to get out quick. As kids we used to play on the coal banks chasing newts it was a brilliant childhood kids today have it hard. I had a black doll and a white one and a big silver cross twin pram. We had a rented furguson t.v. And you had to put 20ps in the lecky metre. There is so much in that video I can remember it brought wonderfully memories and a teer to my eyes lol. Thank you xxxx

I got it when we lived I Germany for 5 years . Army child. I was 8 when we got our first t.v, black and white in a box like the one in the shop. The only thing that looks the same nowadays is a Bush radio.,with the circle tuner. Brought back memories.

The cinema used to show 2 films. The main one and another support film. You could go in anytime and sit and watch as long as you wanted. It appeared to just continue rolling so if you timed it wrong you would see the end of the film first. There was also Saturday morning pictures for kids. 6d for about 3 hours. Kept us out of our parents way for the morning and we took ourselves and back home again. We knew not to talk to strangers or take sweets from people and to use the zebra crossing to cross the road. Lol

Ferguson telly rented from Rumbelows😄 I remember going in with my parents in the '70's to pay the rental & we were the first ones in our little area to get a colour tv😄 I don't remember the cookers looking like that either, so must have been before my time. I did have a Silvercross pram like the ones there & I got my sisters roller skates, that looked like the ones Mazzy pointed out. I think everyone had one of those kitchen cabinets with the drop down working area too. I know ours was put into the cellar to house my dads tools. My mum told me there was a doll doctor in Manchester & Liverpool. When we went to visit their friends, their daughter, who was about 10 yrs older than me, had a black male doll & she used to pull his pants down to show me😱🤣🤣 It had been her mothers doll before hers. I was only little & sworn to secrecy so I wouldn't tell my parents🤣🤣 I'm like you two & remember bits of things, but don't recognise others as I must be too young😄 What a great place to visit. Its a shame you felt rushed, but thank you so much for showing us. Hopefully you can go again & do it at your own leisure & get to see more.

I remember the days well , and the ice on your inside windows in the morning . The toys were so must have in those days , they look a bit out of date these days . Good old roller skates that used to sqeak . We even had a gas fridge . Thinking of the police phone boxes , imagine when you needed to ring someone , you could be forever waiting outside the phone boxes to make your call. No instant calls , and you had to sit and write all your letters . Then wait for ages for a reply. Nothing instant like today . I loved my iderdown on the bed and the blankets and flannelette sheets . I can really remember the days so so well. No double glazed windows just metal frames . One thing however was lots of butlers sinks m and little draining boards , the kitchen work tops were so small. About a square metre if you were lucky .and the whistling kettle , and dolly tubs to do your washing .then mangle your clothes when they were so wet . Both men and ladies had those white pants and a vest. Boiled up in the wash tub and hung up on the line , with you rollers and apron on. Hehe . I don’t think kids today would cope with the things we had to play with . Yes cliff was about in those days . I think he is about 85 or something like that . Really enjoyed the last two days thank you so much for sharing .

Mazzy the Andrrsn Shelters were supplied in kit form by tbe government for use in the garden I think people had to dg 4 ft below the surface. If your income was low they were free but if not there was a charge. Don’t know much more except above ground Morrison shelters were an alternative looking something like a wood framed cage. Sometimes used in a cellar or in a dining room with a piece of wood on top and used as a table. About the size and height of a normal family table. My Grandfather was an warden in the Air Raid Patrol WW11. Being too old to re enter the forces. At the time A cheeky way to say what the ARP stood for was Ar-ng round pubs.
