back again at an ungodly hour posting another song... I'd say it's like half fan song half me projecting my Issues. but yeah I wrote this from Bruno's POV and if you didn't want another Bruno song well too bad I do what I want. kudos to you if you noticed the candle crackling and the knocking sounds and the sorta silverware sounding percussion... I wanted to emulate Bruno's living space. since he probably wouldn't have like a band playing in the background, given that he'd be trying to NOT alert the family of his presence, I made it so he was playing the objects around him like instruments; knocking on wood, the fun little sound he makes in the movie when he hits his head, silverware clacking, wooden spoons, and for my own purposes: a music box and my baritone uke. pretty benign instrumental but I put a lot of thought into it heehee... also the four plus seven part is a reference to seven being a lucky number, especially in Catholicism, and I thought it'd be fitting given that Bruno's very superstitous and Catholic as well :-)
oh also the little clicking noise represents time passing. I kinda set this song when Bruno would've first left the house and then time passes and sorta starts to lose it

I'm really enjoying that the longer the song goes on, the more unhinged he seems. The spacing between the letters is representing this really well. Especially towards the end of the video where it seems to flicker between widened spaces and smaller ones. Like he's struggling to hold on to what little grasp he has over his sanity. I like to imagine he sings this right after he falls back into the walls after his conversation with Mirabel, or perhaps even while Mirabel is with him in the walls. Also my mental health is starting to go down the drain again. This song is the definition of what that feels like.

I love that on the beginning storta represents him in the beginning of living in the walls. And then half way through the song, he stort starts to go almost crazy. And how he still loves his family, but he feels like he can't take it anymore. He starts to almost dislike his mama, even though he knows he loves her. Wow, yet another amazing masterpiece. It 100% captures how Bruno probably feels. Okay okay okay a lot to say about HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS 1. I love how you included little superstitious phrases like AH nice touch mate 2. Watched your Camilo’s Interlude first and you said that originally you were going to make it darker but didn’t want to project that trama onto a 15-year-old. So I like how this has the same melody but you went darker with this one, as Bruno is much older and has been dealing with this for much longer 3.All your references and metaphors ahhh I’m a sucker for those. The fact that it says he’s in a crack in the wall, it actually was his lucky break, trying to mend the walls cracks imagining that he’s trying to save the family 4. “Cause I love you mama but you just let me leave” that hit me HARD. Even though at the end of the movie all seems to be reconciled, but imagine all the healing and uncomfortable conversations that have to take place after with Bruno accepted back in. Because even though Abuela Alma is very happy to see him, Bruno’s mind will still remind him “but she let you leave”. Not to mention all the things they said about him that he heard. If it doesn’t get addressed it will be buried pain, and Bruno will still feel like an outsider. 5. The mention of using his fantasies as escapism. Everyone jokes about the rat telenovellas but as someone who uses shows and stories to escape the stress of life I see this of myself in Bruno who says “I always said my real gift was acting”. Imagine he fantasizes about this being true and that he has a gift that people enjoy rather than fear. 6. The staining in the voice and how it breaks out of melody. Really gives a feel of the desperation and depression Bruno is imagined to be feeling in this song. 7. Reference to Dolores. Bruno would know about her gift do you think he ever tried to be quiet for her to sleep or make sure he never went too dark when he was muttering to himself in case she heard. Maybe the telenovellas were for him as much as her. Another thought; what if when she was younger she tried to tell Pepa or Abuela that Bruno was still there, and was immediately met with “we don’t talk about Bruno” (think of how Pepa reacted when Mirabel tried to bring him up) so eventually she stopped trying, and never communicated with him because of how the adults acted. 8. The puff at the end that is the sound of someone blowing a candle out. In short, yeah I love this and it made me think about A LOT OF THINGS

What I imagined this song/scene to be like: Bruno sat, slumped in his armchair, his head in his hands, his curtain like bangs framing his sallow face. "I've been living in a crack in the wall.." He started singing, his voice low and heavy. "Four months, three days." He quickly counted out on his fingers, which were released from his dark matted hair. "Hey look at that, four and three make seven.." He continued his dull tune as he stood wandering aimlessly around his shabby dwelling "this could be my lucky break..." He gave a quick knock on the wall, breathing out slowly. He grabbed a wooden fork, tapping it on random objects in his room while clicking his tounge. "I've been living in a crack in the wall.." he hummed, his pace quickening as he sang and danced- er stumbled really, around his room. He turned toward the door, his mouth drawing into a tight grimace. "They do say Karma's a b**ch" He lifted up his hood before making his way toward the rickety door. "We cut eachother deep, now I'm behind the scenes, tryna mend our ramshackle family.." He swung the door open, striding down the corridor, occasionally knocking and tapping his foot, continuing on his song's beat. "Oh, I love you sisters, not a day goes by.." He closed his eyes, his fingers automatically twisting together. "That I don't cross my fingers, that I stay alive.." He paused his journey, glancing at the crack filled wall, before at the spackle filled bucket. "On the inside, as shattered as my prohecies.." He dropped down low before grabbing the spackling knife, scooping up some of the paste on the side of the blade. He stood up, grabbing the edge of his hood with his free hand. He tugged the hood up over his muddy hazel eyes. "On the inside..." He gave a shakey exhale before starting to approach and work on sealing the cracks. "I'm clinging to my fantasies..." He brushed the blade against the wall, the paste filling the crack. He ajusted his grip on the hilt of the tool, clicking his tongue as he worked, occasionally going back to get more spackle. "On the inside, a withering apology.." He took a breath, dropping the tool to the ground with a clatter. He lowered his hood, revealing tear stained cheeks. "Cause I love you, Mama, but you just let me leave." He strode away from the now spackle filled walls in the opposite direction of his 'home'. His voice dropped down to a whisper as he continued his singing after a few soothing breaths. "on the inside.." He brushed his hand along the wooden walls, his voice continuing its hollow track. "I've been living in a crack in the wall, Has God forgotten me too?" He fished in his ruana as he walked onward, taking out a fistful of salt. He tossed the seasoning over his shoulder as he sang his next verse. "A pinch of salt and the holy writ a'int enough to conceal the foul taste on my lips!" He bit back a sob, his pace quickening as he soon found himself at the exit to his passageway. "Beacause I've been living in a crack in the wall, I- I- I- I think I'm losing my mind.." He sang as he creaked open the concealed door. He stepped out into the hallway, keeping on the balls of his feet. He glanced over at Dolores's door, his breath quickening slightly. "I've got a neice who can heard every sigh and I wish that I could just suck it up and die.." He let out a light growl as he walked down the stairs into the main courtyard, the moonlight from above illuminating his tired features. He spun around, looking at the candle, its light ethereal as he muttered to himself, breaking free of song. "It's so hard not to be bitter.." He shut his eyes before continuing the melody. "But I've been trying my best." A rat crawled up his shoulder as he began to pace, keeping his steps quiet and light. "I understand, I understand, but I just wanna be a person again." He gave a deep sigh, his shoulders shaking slightly as tears flew down his face. "Oh, I just wanna be a person again." He stopped his pacing before changing it to dancing, his ruana swaying as he moved in his sorrows, his breath coming out in gasps as he sung. "On the inside, as shattered as my prophecies. On the inside, I'm clinging to my fantasies." A few rats scurried around his feet, nearly causing him to trip in his twirls and runs. "On the inside, a withering apology.." His voice cracked his built up emotion getting to him. "Cause I love you Mama but you just let me leave.." He conclued his song as his shoulders shook, feeble cries racked his frame. His knees buckled, causing him to fall to the ground, his arms wrapped around his chest. The man was so distraught that he barely registered the light of dawn rising up in the dark sky, or the creeking of doors as the Madrigals exited their rooms..

I have been listening to all three of your encanto songs on a loop haha. Really adore the downward spiral you're portraying, especially with the way the letters are more spaced out towards the end whereas in the beginning they had normal spacing. Really neat detail! love it 🥺 another cool idea, inspired by ‘close as strangers’ by 5 seconds of summer, is somewhere at the beginning of the song start with the past (“4 months, 3 days”) and then somewhere at the end of the song, it’s the present/future (for example, “9 years, ten months” or “10 years, 1 month”, etc.). i love the song and the lyrics and the meaning behind everything, i just think it would’ve added a really nice, bittersweet affect that the song was being sung through time, kind of like how you added the ticking sounds of the clock for the time passing!!

It's the tune of camilo's interlude, i can also hear bruno using probably kitchen utensils and knocking on wood, it makes sense since he doesn't have enough materials to make actual good instruments, nice attention to detail!!

I know this about Bruno and everything but for some reason the just resonates with me about chronic illness for a lot of it. Which, it’s pretty obvious has something going on that’s a chronic issue one way or another, but yeah. There are whole parts where it just touches my soul, especially the “ I just wanna be a person again” part, you get so used to feeling like you’re nothing but your illness that you no longer feel human. And the part “it’s so hard not to be bitter” feels like when you’re having a really bad day and you’re kinda just wondering who you pissed off to deserve this
