On the Pulse is a series of online presentations from physician leaders in research and care at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® and the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute® addressing the latest cardiovascular advancements and current challenges.
Cold plunges involve immersing oneself in cold water (50°F or colder) as part of a therapeutic regimen. They are popular amongst athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those pursuing health advantages such as improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and enhanced recovery. This practice has surged in popularity due to its perceived ability to invigorate the body and mind. However, it's important to note that cold plunges and hydrotherapy can impact cardiovascular health.

My friends 5-6 year old son fell in the water early in the spring amd it was VERY cold..it was over his head and I had to jump in and save the little guy and let me tell you I will NEVER question why ppl don’t just swim to shore etc like I’ve thought in the passed cuz when that super cold water hits your system your muscles don’t work the way you want them to and it’s a r rally weird feeling not being able to control your self …an eye opener…he was fine but we were both extremely cold and had to warmup for quite a while

Ps I have a sneaking suspicion that the health benefits that comes from swimming are mostly from natural water sources cuz of the natural grounding effect and not happening in chlorinated pools etc….
