On the road in a Vauxhall Astra GSI, what its like driving a 90s Hothatch

an old scouse friend had the MKII GTe 16v, it was a ringer, red behind all the door rubbers but painted in metallic blue, Mickey ragged the shyt out of it, once, 3 of us were on our way back from a club in St, Helens on the M62, his digital dashboard in MPH read 147mph, don`t know what happened to that car, it was great.

I was never really a Vauxhall fan back in the day but I ended up buying a Mk3 GSi, mainly because I got it for a decent price It was the 150bhp model but shortly after I sold it on I bought an Ecotec one. Actually preferred the Ecotec version. It got the power down a whole lot better than the XE

Had a H reg GTE 16V, yes it went well over the speed limit if needed. However they were prone to Porous heads and oil seeped in the water. I drove all the Vauxhalls when working there, my favourite was the Vectra GSI Touring car edition.

I have a 1999 Astra G 2.0 16V SRi, been in the family since new. Love the 90's stuff

I had the 1984 Mk1 1.6 SR Black with the Recaro interior, loved that car. Sold it buy my a Peugeot 205 GTI, now that was fun.

Not a real mk3 gsi, it’s a tarted up sport. Real gsi red top 92k in midnight blue. Wanted one back in the day and a cavalier turbo but never got the chance..££££.

It certainly is a real gsi, says so on the log book. Extremely rare phase 2 gsi, plenty of phase 1 and sports about only 10 of these licensed on the road

so its a shame it dosnt have the same engine as the older phase 1. Kinda like saying its a shame it dosnt have a c20let or b204, not really a point at all

am not slagging the car off am just saying its a shame vauxhall down graded the engine,just like they did from the mk2witch had a coscast head and forged pistons with 156bhp.just Vauxhall cutting costs@@Carfans69
