We advise you to watch another great war movie "White Tiger": kzbin.info/aero/PL7EqAsBxqGggzz6k2wjqVzd35VDyZnI-B The plot: Incredible rumors circulate among Soviet soldiers about a mysterious German tank that suddenly appears and disappears on the battlefield, destroying everything in its path. This is the White Tiger, the devil no one can handle. After one of such battles, a badly burnt tank driver is found in a disabled Soviet tank. Surviving such monstrous burns is impossible, but the tank driver is quickly on the mend. Doctors are perplexed and throw up their hands, assuring that it’s a miracle. Still, this man does not remember who he is, where he comes from, but he knows one thing - the mystical German tank does exist. He believes that the war has given him back his life to rid the world of the killer tank, the White Tiger. What’s that? A fantasy? A mirage? Third Reich’s secret weapon? Or did he discover the ultimate secret of the war?

I was fortunate to have a Modern World History teacher, Honors level who taught the world wars, multiple causes and consequences from the perspective of Russian history from 1904 to 1944. Changed my entire world view, introduced me to Russian Literature and an entirely radical way of thinking about world events, another world not determined by the British colonial views and their allies in the West. Changed me permanently, and for the better.
@justwhenyouthought6119 Жыл бұрын
Well done you getting a bit of fashionable Anglophobia in there, top marks. Your esteemed teacher would also likely have taught you that the Eurocentric view of when WW II started is wrong and the correct starting date would have been the Japanese invasion of China in 1931. This teacher would presumably have informed you that the European start of WW II would have been when Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union both invaded Poland, often people appear to bypass this event or attempt to gloss over it and make it a purely Nazi narrative. This isn't a 'British colonial view' just the plain facts of the matter but I'm sure that that invasion of a sovereign country was 'for the better' also. One thing that they appear to have missed teaching you is that this event was from The Soviet Union, not Russia and one of the key protagonists of this tale would not have thanked him for obscuring the rest of the peoples of the Soviet Union's contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany. Sorry, but you either had a poor teacher, or you did not listen, or you're just making things up.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. A platoon group picture was published in the regimental newspaper, but it was 5 weeks after a terrorist had thrown a grenade in the back of our lorry. 5 were killed, including our Lieutenant sitting in the cab, and 3 injured so badly they were discharged. I was covered in shrapnel hits, but nothing too serious. It was sad to see your ex-comrades alive and happy, and how few of us were left.

Howzabout "The Last Detail" * (1973) movie with Jack Nicholson, same idea. Granted, "Road to Berlin" has more tanks. Shouldn't the title be "On the Road *Away* from Berlin". * Dennis Quaid similarly played a room temperature IQ comrade except here the main character rather than stay with the strong loined farm lady would voluntarily march to his death by the same people who would've shot him in the back if he, without a rifle, didn't keep charging an enemy machine gun position. (See the beginning of the sniper movie "Enemy At the Gates" when unarmed conscripts are unloaded off a train straight into a battle most if any without a weapon. The men standing in the rear ready to shoot anyone who retreated.) In old country man get shot on the spot like guy with rifle in village early on in the movie. No time for extended court-martial proceedings while the Germans have broken thru front lines. Bang, no more sappy sentimental movie. Nice cinematography

My both grandfathers fought in this war. My grandmother died of starvation in blockaded Leningrad in 1942 and was buried in a mass grave at Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery. It is possible to find documentary about the blockade of the City - to such find on KZbin. It is a long story about my mother, etc. I would like to make a note about Hollywood - it sucks lately. But I, as a foreigner, back then, still remember excellent war films made by Hollywood: "Full Metal Jacket", " "Platoon", "Save Private Ryan", etc. I bow my head for every veteran - regardless the army was served.
