On the Road to Mount Rainier National Park

I'm back on the road and headed toward Washington to hit some of my favorite mountains, campsites, and national parks in the pacific northwest. We'll be hitting the trail and discovering hidden gems for swimming holes, hiking, and camping. Early summer means an itinerary full of swim spots, alpine lakes, roaring waterfalls hikes, and magical old growth pine forests. I've mastered the art of slow travel after traveling full time for over two years, so this return adventure to my favorite mountain will be well worth another visit ! Finding secret corners to relax, hike and explore the beauty of the PNW in my camper van - learning about native plants and wildflowers from your favorite nature nerd as I share my mindset and methods for beating the crowds and truly getting the best experience out of national parks.

Mount Rainier is definitely on my bucket list. It sort of reminds me of New Zealand. You should definitely visit New Zealand one day! I know you’ll love it. I went there once and traveled around the two islands with a travel van. The best experience ever!

There are a few campground options but aside from that most national parks don’t allow it for free!

Hey there, have any tips on hiking solo while also being female? I would love to do more solo adventures and hiking excursions but I find myself overly nervous to be alone in areas sometimes. Did you have this experience when you started? If so how did you get over it?

I definitely got paranoid but it’s also about putting yourself out of your comfort zone while putting faith in your instincts and securities. There is a point where it can be irrational anxiety, but you can also always be prepared with bear spray 😉 I’ll try to make a video on it at some point!!
