I swear by it, the two things you need (besides fingers) is the guitar and amp. For fucks sake, fingers are the most important, but having a strat with a good tube amp, you can achieve any sound. Overdrive it and you've got philip sayce. Those are by far the biggest factors to tone

PS , has anyone heard Michael Landau play at the bake potato doing Hendrix? It will blow your mind . He can go into fusion in a split second . His resume is kinda huge . 😉

You and Jimmy Herring Love REVERB. To each their own I guess. Jimmy uses a volume pedal to control his reverb and adjust to the room he's playing in.

upon further investigation, the black one is the keeley true bypass looper. red one is probably some kind of a fuzz. I don't know the pink one..

Philip plays with Lots of Treble and pretty much Reverb. try something like Treble at 8 or 9 in a Super reverb or Twin reverb. you will get a pretty identic sound.

Okay, I can't find the answer anywhere. Go to 3:48 and pause. What's the pink pedal in the top right? What's the red pedal on the bottom left? and what the black pedal just above the red one that's hard to see?

Philip is a great guitar player fo sho , he can't write lyrics like Hendrix, and front a trio at 24 years old though , and scare EVERY blues and rock player alive in 1967 , paving uncharted territory, not copying. Check out Henrik Fleishlader , doing foxey lady, he kills every Hendrix Experience touring guy, and I was on Satriani and Johnson payroll to see it every night . I used to use 12 -56 strings , forever , now I play 9-38 , just like Jimi . The tone is way cooler to me , it makes the effects like fuzz act different , than with big strings. Doyle , Philip , Johnson, Philip, all big string fans, the tone is not anywhere near Jimi with big strings, fyi.
