I have a Packwood Old English stub tail razor. It was probably made around 1810-1830. It's not the best shaver and hard to handle with that stub tail but shaving with something that was made when Napoleon was in power is pretty cool. Cheers for keeping the history alive!

Yeah I must agree it is rather special shaving with something so old brings something more to the shave. My builders hands don't like the dainty nature of the shank area on them, it will be for occasions, not sure what but I'll find some in the year for it, lol..

Man beautiful razor, nice honing session, that’s a beautiful stone.

Cheers BigE, it's one of the prettiest razors I've handled I think. A good stone for sure and the Koma goes well with it, I've ran more razors using the Koma now and I feel like its coming together nicely. I suspect I'm getting slightly keener edges straight from the stone using it.

@@SustainashaveI love my Koma, but I have a couple really good Tomos i usually follow Koma with that do a beautiful job. I acquired some Chu Nagura, and that had been my choice lately. 3k, Botan, Chu, Koma, Tomo, all on Oozuku. Beautiful edges.

I sold a razor to someone who uses on Badger & Blade a lot & he said to me about Chu Nagura which I'd never heard about before, he said they were great & I should give it a go. I'll get one next year give it a go.. Have a lovely festive break chap.

It is something being able to use razors that are that old. I do not think that I would go out of my way for one, but if it fell into my lap I wouldn't say no. lol I am same with practicing with switching hands for honing. I think that it helps with the eye and hand coordination. Thanks for the video and discussion, always a pleasure. I hope you take care and have a good one. Cheers.

I was kinda the same fella, I got quite a good deal on this razor. I think I only paid about the £30 mark for it & it is a rather pretty stubby. I'm going to sell the other ones as I just haven't got the time to sink into them & I'm not one to hold onto razors if I'm nothing going to use them. Yeah It's going really great with my left hand, I can go all the way to the finishers now without worry for a mistake, not as fast mind. I totally agree we are born with dominate sides but it's a bit of a folly to think your not meant to work on the other side to make it better.. Cheers Bud, you to..
