I am talking to this girl on the Internet for like... 4 years now and we just met for the first time yesterday. I've always been VERY shy with girls and I never thought I would be able to tell her I love you, but I did and I was extremely proud of me. I felt great, tall and strong and then she told me today that nothing is ever going to happen between us. She doesn't love me at all and she would have prefered not to know that I love her. I watched this video before, but I watched it again and i'm not even sad now. What you are saying Boogie is true. She basically told me : It's a waste of time and i'm freeing you from this. Thank you Boogie for giving people strenght, courage and knowledge, that's what heroes and great persons are made of. Keep going.

I always tell people that you need at least one bad relationship before you can truly appreciate a great one. Most people go through several break ups because early on you don't truly know what you want, and it's through all those bad times that you learn to really love a person and make them feel as special as possible.

I aways sucked at relationships. Most of my life very few woman found me "attractive". For those who want your relationship to work (once you get into one) is be yourself. I spent most of my life in my relationships trying to be someone else, or trying to be what "she" wanted. Got older, and wiser, and only found my wife after she met me during my "I don't give a shit" stage where I didn't try being anything but who I am and if they didn't like it "there's the door". Have been married now for over 13 years when before then my relationships never lasted over a month. There's one other reason why my marriage works. I use to always tell the truth to everyone my whole adult life, I found it easier than trying to remember lies and in the long run got into less trouble that way. I wouldn't be rude to people, and if they asked me a question I thought they didn't want to hear the answer to I'd act like I didn't hear them (to be nice). But if they backed me into a corner, I would tell them the truth whether it hurt or not. Soon after I got together with my wife, my wife came up to me and told me "honey, please lie to me" she said "if it is a lie just to protect my feelings then lie". Have been happily married ever since.

telling some ppl to be themselves is some of the worst advice you can give some ppl. what i mean is, it's like telling an abusive person to keep abusing whoever or whatever their abusing. but i'm just saying. sorry if that came out hateful. i'm just trying to give some advice.

I was dumped by my last girl friend the day after Christmas last year. We didn't speak for a few weeks after. We worked together so not speaking to one another at that time was difficult. We went on about four more dates and at one of them my ex gf told me what i did wrong to her and i listened to her very carefully when she told me that so i can work on myself to better myself for my next relationship. I am okay with being single for a while. The best thing someone can do when dealing with a break up is accept the situation especially if the other person was toxic for you e.g. if yall argued and fought about everything and didn't share common beliefs and moral values. If you have a hobby focus on that so you can keep your mind off the break up and pain associated with it. Focus on bettering yourself in your job or career. Channeling those feelings into something else will help out quite a bit. I know because im doing my best to get past a break up.

I have trouble with this. When I had my heart broken by my first girlfriend (who I had a LOT of serious talks with about marriage, plans, etc.), I literally couldn't push myself to be productive in any way for a long time. I flunked a class and dropped two more BOTH of my first semesters of college after being an A student throughout my life. My work ethic tanked, I spent hours upon hours every single day feeling sorry for myself, binging on sad music, avoiding my friends because I just really didn't feel comfortable talking to other people. I'm still recovering. I still have trouble believing that anyone could make me feel as special as she did, and I still have trouble believing that I can ever feel that way again. I have my first job now, and I find myself smiling a lot more than I could for the past year and a half. I'm becoming more outgoing and more mature. All I can hope for is that someone amazing can enter my life. I've dated at least 10 girls since my heartbreak, and they all failed miserably

You are right, when I'm in trouble, and I mean depression tier trouble I resort to learning things. Whether it's to just simply learn about animals, about places, or about behaviors. The one thing that beats everything else, is history. When I'm mentally compromised, learning history really gave me perspective. I learn that mistakes, troubles, people I deal with had been dealt with countless times by people in history. It gives me tools to deal with life. And shown me how insignificant my problems, and myself is.

So thing is with relationships is a lot of people learn in one way or another that they are worthless if they are not with someone. See - the old unmarried woman, the person who moves out alone, the man who comes to a wedding without a date, etc etc. Fact is, everyone wants a relationship - sure. But to ever have a good one you need to learn that it is just a part of your life - icing on the cake if you will - but it is not your whole life or equation of self worth. If you break up with someone it sucks, but you need to feel confident you could live alone and independently at any time in your life, otherwise you are not free - and you are doing yourself a great injustice.

Definitely some of the most insightful and healthy advice about breakups that I have ever heard. I just got out of a 3 year relationship and I have the same mindset you talked about here after doing a lot of thinking but I still couldn't have said it better then you did. Much respect Boogie, you're a good person.

I'm glad to here you've had those experiences boogie we can all clearly see why someone would want to be with you. Your personality really shines im sure many people would love to have your time and affection. Physically im fine and am fairly comfortable in my own skin particularly in the last year or so yet ive never had any kind of relashionship. Mainly because of severe social anxiety that's plagued me since i was a child and never going out being trapped inside.

I have been with my fiance for five years now. I have found my soul mate we will stay together for life. That is our goal. If we do fight or argue about something we try to just let things go. We don't waste away in the matter. We just let things subside and we allow ourselves to learn from the experience. If we didn't we would be miserable and keep going at each others throats. Awesome topic and video. Thanks.

You're very inspirational Boogie. I love your serious vlogs. My 3rd relationship was the charm for me. We'll be married 30 yrs. in Dec., together 32. We married young - 21 & 20. I say that is young because most people still don't know what they're doing in life at that age. They are more mature in their late 20s and settled down with a career job, their own place, finished school, etc. We've been thru alot. Communication and respect are the keys to a long loving relationship.

I was recently broken up with, about 3 weeks ago almost 4. I've been finding it extremely difficult to cope with the heartache. When I was victim of a woman's insecurities and wild imagination. Being accused of something I would never ever think of doing is beyond heartbreaking. Being accused of being a low scum cheater when I know from the bottom of my heart, I never did wrong by my woman. It's devastating. I can't seem to hide the pain. I can pretend. But that's the thing about pretending. When you're on your own. You're only fooling yourself. Thanks boogie!

Ive dated ALOT of girls. Even though I still am horrible in a relationship due to the model I had. I thought I knew it all and gave good advice on it. I recently decided to try and settle with a girl. She had gotten out of a really bad relationship and jumped into one with me. I thought for once in my life I am going to give this girl everything of me 100%. I did and it blew up in my face and I am still heartbroken. I have heard alot of advice and have to say this really made me think. Thanks.

I was in a four year relationship, and I got broke up with. We were a couple that everyone thought would be together forever, we never really fought, and that's a horrible thing. I'm not saying that you should fight all the time, that's just as un-healthy. You want a girl that can yell at you, and tell you when she doesn't feel right about something, that's good, but you both have to be able to get over fights very easily too. I was doing a lot of things wrong that I didn't even know, I understand now why she didn't tell me, she would always find the worst point in time to bring something I did wrong up, when I was already angry about something or up-set. I should had been more willing to listen even though I was already upset, but the best thing you can find, and I KNOW it doesn't seem like it, is a girl that can tell you what you are doing wrong. I thought everything was fine, until the night I got broke up with, our relationship wasn't the best, but I never even knew she was un-happy, because she never communicated that she was un-happy. It's just a learning process, and the wrong thing to do is to lock yourself up and not show any emotion because you feel like everyone is only out there to hurt you. I blocked off my emotions in the relationship something I didn't even realize I had done. I really doubt the next girl I meet will be "The one" but that's life, relationships are just something that you learn from just like boogy said, after a long while you will find someone that you can spend the rest of your life with, after I got broke up with I laid in bed the first two days, then I just hung out with friends after that, worked out more, I used all that negative energy for positive things, and It helped. I've been single now four about four months, and I'm perfectly willing to give my heart to someone else, you have to, you will be happier in the long run if you don't cut off all emotion. Yeah you can get burned and heart broken like I did, but eventually it will pay off, and locking away your emotions turns people away from you.

Boogie, I've been struggling with my relationships for the past several years now. I'm gay, and I've been in many, but all lasted no longer than a month and many, looking back now, seemed too sexual. I've been trying to search for what was wrong as sometimes they would never tell me the reason, or the "real" reason, and it's been incredibly hurtful and sorrowful. You've reminded me that I just need to keep my chin up and improve on myself, and I thank you for making me smile.

I liked the "learn to be a better you" and your introspective thoughts - its more than easy to pretend to yourself that there is something insidiously wrong with you and tell yourself that you are a bad person or people are bad to you rather than face the 'real' you inside yourself where the answer is already waiting for you to accept it with compassion towards yourself :)

It's just as easy to do it. All you need is the right mindset, don't look down on yourself! Everyone has some good qualities, focus on them instead of the bad ones. Try to be confident, you are an amazing dude and you will find someone sooner or later. You just gotta believe in yourself!
