Thanks for sharing your thought process on how you are shooting - am really enjoying your tribute to Ansel Adams! For those few who seem to absurdly want some photos in colour during this series - please do yourself a favour and spend some online time googling Ansel Adams. Once you do, you will realize the scope of what Serge is doing by being 'On the Trail of Ansel Adams'.

+Michelle Levasseur Couldn't have said it better. Having just recently seen one of his original prints in person, I'm afraid to say googling it just will not do his work justice. But it's a start!

Agree with Levi below, really liked this one. Very interesting to see how you do the composition and then all the camera stuff, and always keeping in mind foreground, middle ground, background. It is a great lesson to us all, many thanks, Serge!!!

Great video, Serge. I really find value in the part where you talk about composition and why you like, or don't like, a particular composition. I really like this new series you are doing! Thanks for the good work!

Mr. Adams used an 8x10 view camera so that has a vertical orientation. Thanks for your ideas, we are going in April. Its so easy to miss opportunities just heading to the place everyone goes to. Eyes open, camera ready, stop and photograph. Black and White photography forces the photographer to pay closer attention to the scene / composition. Nice job Mr. Ramelli

Hi Serge, I have been following you for a quite a long time and of course learned a lot from your free or payed courses. I live at San Jose, so it's really glad to see you visiting north California. I do not know if you are still around this region. Just wonder if I can have chance to meet you or even join your trip for photography? Thanks very much!

These look awesome, but I do have to say they have a much more dreamy, smooth, almost haunting look than almost anything I've seen from Ansel Adams.

Hi Serge, i really enjoy your videos and learn every time. It was raining a little bit, why didn't you use a lens hood for protection against the rain? Is that with a particlar reason? Best regards, Ed

At 17:50 you are saying your image would have been sharper at f/22 but that's not true. The more you stop down, the more you get an overall blur because of diffraction of light. The aperture with the best absolute sharpness depends on the lens but is usually somewhere around f/8. Maybe your tripod moved a bit because of the wind and/or wet stones or perhaps your ND filter is of bad quality. Thanks for your tutorials. I love that you are doing a special on Ansel Adams! I like his pictures a lot and I'm really looking forward on more videos on this topic. It would be great if you could also explain his techniques with the "zone system". I've never really understood what that is/was good for ;-)

He propably meant that the trees would be sharper due to the bigger dof on f22.

Nice One! Thank you. Question: What was the bag/carry system you were using in this ep?? Did not find it on your Gear-Page. (Ohh, while I was their, i also noticed that your Sony 16-35 F4 lens is not on their ;( ) Btw. Do you want comments exclusively here... or on your website as well??

+Serge Ramelli Hi Serge, I am also very interested in this bag which looks very comfortable. May I ask what size this bag was (therer are 4 sizes available) and if you had the A7R2 with the 16-35 mounted in this bag ? Thank you very much !!! I love your videos !!!

Serge, your camera cannot auto focus with an 1000ND filter on the lens because there is not enough light coming in the sensor. Your camera managed to work in some situations because it's a mirrorless a7r ii and has back-Illuminated sensor. Any dslr does not have any chance to focus like this. I like your "new style" videos, keep up!
@mahirdrafi95798 жыл бұрын
Any DSLR that has a live view mode should work even after ND filter is attached to the lens.
