Congrats. We sometimes forget to mention our species of Europe because we are attracted by more exotic species. But we have in Europe amongst most spectacular species not for size but for patterns. What could we say about Vipera kaznakovi or dinniki what shows sometimes orange or red colour. I remember that Vipera ammodytes ruffoi show an incredible almost silver colour and some specimens of Vipera ammodytes ammodytes are sometimes grey, brown but also beige and pink! So much variation in the coloration. And what say about situla. Ah I forget to comment your fantastic footage about Lachesis, so beautiful images about a so elusive species.

I saw the video and thought, oh no, 122 minutes. That's too long. Then I started watching it, and 122 minutes later, I thought, oh no, that's too short. Best video ever. I'm from Australia but I was lucky to find a Balkan and Nose horned on my trip to Croatia, on Hvar. Both were adults. Excellent job on the video guys :)

Thanx for the Warning. I love to play portable Amateur Radio Outdoors at remote Places of Mother Nature. In most Cases Snakes going to see me long before I notice they are around and they going to escape. But you never know what happens...sometimes if you come across a sleeping Snake she gets scared and might strike at you just to protect herself. Always have an Eye open where you move around and never try to touch or catch one of these Snakes if you not familiar with Species. On europeansides I never had an Issues with venomous Snakes but in SoCali I got bitten twice by a Rattlesnakes. So be careful - Life can be over very fast. Thanks for your fantastic Job & happy Weekend. Greetings from southwest Germany. Uncle Günter waving a Hand into Croatia 💯🙋♂

Thanks great film. I too thinks it great to release a snake in the exact spot where you find it, when possible of course. Is it true that in the right conditions a Balkan whip snake can reach over 2 meters in length?.
@LivingZoology Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, absolutely! It is important to release snakes back to their home range. An exceptionally large Balkan whip snake can have about 130 cm!
@Dijana.S9 ай бұрын
Excellent documentary. The only thing I would challenge is that the western whip snake can only be found in Croatia on the Balkan. We definitely have them in Macedonia as well (or something extremely similar)
@LivingZoology9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The Western whip snake is indeed not native to any other country on Balkan peninsula except Croatia. We know about one introduced population on some Greek island.
