So how do you know how big the fish are that you are scanning on the 3D imaging? The feedback seems to just come back as a group of dots. How would you know whether those dots are a school of bluegills or a school of bass?

Hello Alex. Thank you for watching and commenting! In the 3D mode we use spheres or pinpoints to try and define the actual size of the target the sonar is seeing. We can also color-code them according to depth or density. You'll get much more realistic sizing of targets in Point mode, though they will be harder to see overall. The Sphere presentation (the default) is intended to make targets easier to see but it definitely comes at the expense of accurate size. You can change the 3D presentation between Point and Sphere mode in the Sonar Settings menu. That said, if you set the colorization mode to color targets by Intensity rather than depth, I think you'll instantly be able to see the differences between the fish types. Fish of the same species tend to reflect sonar with a similar signature, so there will be some uniformity to their returns. I also find it helpful to run the 3D presentation split with another sonar so I can see both signatures. The DownVision or SideVision, for example, can offer more picture-like detail. The channels are synchronized by default so you should be able to correlate fish between channels to match them up.

Hi, is there a big fish alarm feature on the Element 7 HV-100
@Raymarine
@Raymarine Жыл бұрын
Yes. There is a fish alarm on Element in the sonar menu. In the fishfinder app, open Menu...Settings...and go to the Fish Detection tab. There you can turn the alarm on, and adjust its sensitivity from 0 to 100. The LOWER the number, the LARGER the fish needs to be to trigger the alarm. You can also setup shallow and deep limits so fish above or below a certain depth won't trigger the alarm. Note...this feature was added to Element via software update. If you don't see this option on your Element system you might need to update its software. The current software for Element as of today (October 9, 2023) is version 3.19.10, issued in June of 2023. You can get it on Raymarine.com here along with instructions on how to install it: www.raymarine.com/en-us/download/lighthouse-sport-software-for-element-chartplotters

I started with the Dragonfly and then moved to the Axiom. Didn’t love the touch while fishing so got the Element for a new boat. Please incorporate the WiFi apps same as the touch version Axiom. I enjoyed having an iPad mounted at the back of the boat to show the sonar pages. Not sure why it wasn’t included in this unit. It is basically the same without touch.

@Raymarine 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Michal. I suggest backing up your data and settings, then performing a factory reset. I suspect that a leftover file from the update is blocking the unit from seeing the water temperature. Resetting the unit will clear out any old artifacts from the prior software. You can then restore your data and settings.

Element 7 hv Can someone explain the cone angle of the transducer at 1.2 Mhz and 350 Hz? Or does no one know? RAYMARIN probably doesn't know either. They didn't answer despite asking.
@Raymarine
@Raymarine 13 күн бұрын
There are 3 beams on the Element system that operate at 350 kHz CHIRP and 1.2 MHz HyperVision modes. Each of them are about 60-degrees wide (left to right) but only 1.2-degrees in the fore/aft direction. Between the 3 beams, 2 for SideVision and 1 for DownVision, you get about 170° of coverage around the boat. The port and starboard beams for the SideVision are angled downwards just slightly to avoid the surface clutter caused by wave action. This also allows the SideVision beams to slightly overlap the DownVision beam on each side.

Hello James, thank you for your answer. As far as I understand, at a depth of 10 meters (60 degrees right - left and 2 degrees forward - backward), we obtain an ellipse with the dimensions of 11.5 meters right - left and 3.5 meters forward - backward. Is that correct? I also sent you a picture in a normal chirp scan by e-mail to show you what I understand from this situation. I need more detailed information. If you can look at the e-mail and help me, I would be very happy. I wish you could prepare a video about this. I am eagerly waiting for your answer.

Reading all the comments sounds like there is quite allot of discontent with the Element. I am trying to figure out if I need to go to the Axiom Pro RVS to go deep (saltwater) or can I do that with the Element using their higher functioning transducer? How far down does the Element function using - down finder, side view, 3 D? Come on - share some IN-DEPTH information. You can tell a salesman presentation versus a technical one. Do I have to upgrade hundreds of dollars to get the deeper reader capacity with the Axiom when I don’t need all the other (baggage) built in functions? No one wants to pay for what they don’t need and don’t use. I am about to stray from Raymarine while I am in the market for a fish finder, navigation and gps NOW. I live on the Sea of Cortez, BCS - electronics need to be bought and installed before SPRING. I am doing my research.

Hello Flash. The Element and the Axiom Pro RVX have some very different capabilities. The Element system can generate images as deep as 900-feet on its 200 kHz CHIRP channel, 600-feet on DownVision @ 350 kHz CHIRP, and 300-feet for SideVision and 3D @ 350 kHz CHIRP. Element also has 1.2 MHz frequency for DownVision, SideVision and 3D but that increases the resolution at shallower depths. This added frequency, called HyperVision, is exclusive to the Element line. Axiom Pro RVX has 2 sonars built into it. It has the Down, Side, 200 kHz CHIRP and 3D capabilities described above, plus, it has a 1kW, dual-band CHIRP sonar for deep water applications. Depending on the transducer you select for the 1kW CHIRP option you have the capability to make images as deep as 3,000 feet.

@@Raymarine - Thank you for the reply. I have already figured out what I am going to do and have done it. I purchased an Axiom + 9” RV. Just arrived in the box and I am in the process of installing it. With a 21’ 8” bay boat I don’t need the Pro for hundreds of dollars more for what? For things I will not be using on my boat. The Axiom + is the sweet spot for my needs and will reach the depths I need to read fish and structure as well. Again - thank you.

The HyperVision sonar in the Element-series products has the following power outputs which vary depending on the channel and operating mode: DownVision, SideVision and 3D when operating in HyperVision (1.2 MHz) mode all transmit at 1,000 Watts (1kW). Though it is very high power output, its range is fairly short due to the high frequency. High frequency delivers exceptional clarity and detail, but the sonar energy is rapidly attenuated by the water so it can't travel very far. HyperVision has a range of about 38 meters (125 feet.) DownVision, SideVision and 3D when operating in CHIRP mode (320-380 kHz) all transmit at 700 watts. The lower frequency (compared to HyperVision) give these channels longer range. The range at this frequency increases to 91 meters (300 feet.) The detail less than what HyperVision delivers, but it is still very high resolution. The conical High frequency CHIRP channel (170-230 kHz) transmits at 100 watts. The maximum depth at this frequency and power is 274 meters (900 feet.)

Element sonar has DownVision and SideVision at 2 frequencies. The HyperVision 1.2 MHz is higher frequency, offering substantially more detail but at lesser ranges. The maximum range for it is about 90 to 100 feet, though it can be less depending on the water conditions too. If you need more range but HyperVision can't get there you can switch to the CHIRP DownVision and SideVision instead. The frequency drops to the chirp 320 to 350 kHz band, which offers much longer range (up to 300 feet) with some reduction in detail.

@Raymarine

Element's high CHIRP sonar channel broadcasts across the 170 to 230 kHz spectrum. 200 kHz is its center frequency. With CHIRP signaling you can use less power to achieve the depth performance of non-CHIRP systems. That channel on Element is rated to about 900-feet of depth.
@desinto
@desinto 2 жыл бұрын
@@Raymarine Thank you for your reply. “Element's high CHIRP sonar channel broadcasts across the 170 to 230 kHz spectrum”. Ok. No problem, understood. In order to use this broad spectrum an appropriate CHIRP transducer in needed. For example-Airmar TM165HW will suit this frequencies just fine. But…The Element’s transducers CPT-S along with HV-100 DO NOT support Chirp technology in the Traditional sonar frequencies!!! They just don’t support it!!! Both ducers have ONE and ONLY single frequency 200khz ! Without any broadband and spectrum. The only reason you indicate High =chip= frequency for these ducers is your desire and pure marketing. From the engineering and scientific point of view a single (and only) frequency without any spectrum and broadband cannot be classified as CHIRP technology. And you know that. Regards.
