It may all seem like fluff, but when you watch any video of their concerts its remarkably crisp sound, with clear and distinct channels. Unlike so many other concert videos recorded on cell phones

Heard this first hand in Chicago on 5/6. Definitely the most present mix I've ever heard on the floor (5th row), I could hear the articulation in everything. Also, having fractal for the guitars doesn't hurt if you are going for that in-your-face vibe. It felt like the mix was made just for my listening position and not for everyone else in the united center. A perfect sounding show...

Not hard to tell they are planning another live album. All that hardware is not standard for shows. They are polishing capturing the audio for each show. Id say after this album, youll see a live album come out.

Not to mention Travis is a basher that doesn't really mix his cymbals with the rest of his kit and hits the drums hard enough to choke them. The fact that they make that sound good is the real deal.

The fact Blink is hiring engineers that use Rupert Neve is also a big accomplishment. I think its because of Marks Production/Studio background he built when Tom left. I have no doubt Blink will sound the best this time around, also proud Tom really has improved his live vocals.

Tom knows way more about gear, recording, engineering and post production. Having said that, I still think they sound like shit live. All the gear and best engineers can’t make a bad live musician sound good. But I do think Tom records very well. More talent is heard on the AVA work, in my opinion.

We had a pretty bad sound in Belgium, sitting upstairs (in the cheap seats). I know the place wasn't designed for good acoustics, but the bass drum covered every other sound. Couldn't hear any guitar or voice for the whole show, except when drums were silent. I guess nobody monitored the sound upstairs. Everyone seemed to have a good time downstairs though

@LaminarSound
@LaminarSound 11 ай бұрын
I caught that. No, he likely used 1 of a couple options. 1- output from wireless receiver was set to line level or 2- the outboard gear was simply patched in via send/return at line level. My guess would be the 2nd option because I would assume the receivers are onstage and not at FOH. So his mic signal probably was sent to FOH via Dante, and the outboard gear was inserted at FOH.
