Thanks for building the latest version. Installed the trial version, an hour later bought the license, and another hour later, bought additional Stability AI credits. Since then been updating my library of images. Fascinated by the capabilities. The Local Gen AI capability is not so good, but still a good option to have IMHO.

Interesting that they look like they were using the Stability Engine for the demo. I just downloaded the update and the generative erase using local (I have a VG GPU) is not very good. In a lot of my photos Perfect Eraser does a better job. Would love to see demo with busy photos (sports with people in the background) and use the local AI.

Used generative ai on a recent kenya safari photo. Tried to replace part of a tree but it put the background as a grass field and woodland not scrub. Went to the undo arrow and nothing happened no undo!!

Yeah, and Stability isn't cheap. $90 a year for the lowest, which is more than the upgrade price for On1 2025. Disappointed.

Yep, the local GenAI erase in the new On1 is total garbage. I gen erased a tree top over lake water it is just replaced the existing tree with some other tree of the their choosing. It did not replace/erase with the water surface like the surrounding area. In another photo at a mountain bike race I tried to remove someone standing in the background. Scrub ground and rocks surrounding. The AI recognized the photo was a bicycle photo and simply replaced the person standing with someone on a bicycle.

Thanks for the video! But why does the generative removal tool not replace the removed item with the identical resolution? It's so obvious to see when you zoom in, that a retouched image can at most be used for low res social media content... Or am I missing something? Thanks

My 2024.5 version doesn't automatically update?! I did purchase the 2025 version before the launch. Do i need to update it manually? Don't i lose all the custom presets, catalogs etc? No video about that? And are some major issues like focus stacking finally resolved? (on the PC version) ?

Yes, you will need to install version 2025 and the presets should transfer over.

I installed ON1 2025 Raw. It sounded so good! When I launch it now it goes to "installing assets" and has been "installing assets" for two days now. I'm ready to uninstall it and go back to 2024.5 until 2025 is really ready for prime time.

When ON1 saves files with filenames ending in .onphoto, the files become enormously large, from 20mb to 250mb seems absolutely insane.

Not too interested in all the gee whiz AI fakery to rescue bad photos, but there are some really good new features to explore, especially depth masking and colour control. The range and performance of the masking options in ON1 is so satisfying for the experienced user. I would like to see improvements in the results achieved with some of the more recently introduced new features, like the performance of regional masking in identifying regions (currently very hit or miss depending on the photo) and more user controls over Brilliance AI default settings beyond strength (I generally find a colour intensity or shift change I don't like). Also Keyword AI was oversold when first introduced, but doesn't seem to have to have any improved functionality in the two years since.

Couldn't follow Generative Canvas Extend, in terms of how you determine size of the final print/canvas. It seemed when you hit crop a faint, larger image was in the background, that you brought crop limits out to, but this seemed to pop up, and I didn't see any image size, only the aspect ratio that you set. I got my On1 2025. I watched one of the introductory videos and have a request. The light reflection on the glasses distracts and annoys viewers like me. I appreciate you eliminating this light reflection in future videos, say by putting the light higher etc. No offense intended.

Installed the plugins in Affinity Photo 2 (using the same method employed with ON1 Photo RAW 2024 MAX with which the plugins operated in Affinity Photo 2). Then tested with Develop and Effects. Affinity Photo showed they were installed, but neither ran when called from Affinity Photo. My system Mac Studio 2023 Apple M2 Max 64 GB Memory macOS Sequoia

Ok my 2025 thing doesn't do any of this or even show the same menus. There is no menu acriss the top when i click retouch. And actually the export menu from the bottom right of the window is gone as well. I have to use the 3 dots more to export a photo. What have I done wrong? It clearly did not set up the way its supposed to. There is no way to find the tools you list in this video!

Hi, Click on Windows in the menu at the top of the ON1 screen. Then at the bottom section, put a check mark in front of everything, starting with Show Bumper Labels, except for Hide Panels. You should see everything you are talking about. Have Fun, Jeff

The new generative remove tool just isn't there on the left side or anywhere I can find it. I have the 2025.5 or whatever it is, and it just doens't offer the tools you use here and I can't find them. Like it didn't install right? I dunno. Frustrating though. If I don't get some help on this I'm switching to another one next year. I've asked for help many times now on this.

The stack/group feature is not really new to this kind of apps Apple Aperture had that feature decades ago.

I am having major problems with color. When i open a raw file the colors get completely scewed and it is so annoying trying to dial the correct color in. I have been a local on1 user since 2021. Upgraded in 2022 and now i got 2025. Im not sure how i like it because it feels like my pictures dont look like i want them to, like the program changes something in my edits both before and after editing.. As opposed to with On1 2022. Maybe i am doing something wrong. But i reckon a new update should work the same as an older version just with more features and better optimisation etc etc. Anyways thank you for providing an alternative to the subscription hell that is Adobe.

First thing I've learned about On1 Photo RAW 2025 - After installing the main program at around 6:50pm on my M2 Mac mini I was not able to use it, because most things I've tried to do start another background download. Still waiting just to resize an image .... it's now 9:20pm and the loading bar is at just 50% of AI-Components are installed. That's not a good experience.

very bad experience with Local GenAI. It simply does not erase but replaces one object with another instead of intelligently guess the background. Same with generative expand and even Powerline removal. I had a very different expectation following all the recent sneak peeks and todays launch video. I'm also not going to pay 9$ for an extra StabilityAI. Probably going to cancel my upgrade for now and test LuminarNeo.

Don't expect too much from Luminar Neo. The AI does a mediocre job and is all on line. Perhaps the ON1 team will get theirs to work with a few updates. You will find yourself going ON1 2024 for the AI denoise and sharpening. The AI versions of those on Neo are very slow and give poor results. in fact most of the AI stuff on Neo is quite slow. Neo is nice for a quick review of a landscape photo. I use it almost purely for landscapes and generally to see how something is going to look with a quick bit of tweaking. The ON1 2025 depth masking is much better than the depth treatment on Neo.

The functions are really nice, but the performance is so bad, you can not use it on an i7 13700K because the usage of the cpu is always at 98% or above. Would love to use it if you optimize the program to run even when big folders of pictures are loaded. With the latest version its no longer an option :(

Software is really slow, I feel its really heavy for normal system. AI is in Alpha I guess. Software is not simple at all, having affinity on the other hand makes thing simple. But using this software is relaly difficult. Album doesnt show all images, on clicking fodler randomly selects 1 pic for edit. Apart from adding features should improve core functionality and app usability.

I don't like that stacks are hidden and neither expandable nor retractable when using filters. 1. I do want to use stacks with filters, even if only a few photos are included. 2. I don't want photos to be hidden without even being able to see that there might be more in a group. It's hard to use this feature this way.

I love how when you do these demos you completely ignore and gloss over errors that the software throws up. 6.19 "Bam there we go..." Oh yes the pumpkin in the bottom centre is only orange two-thirds down then a straight line to the bottom colour.

Frankly, I have been unable to get any good results with generative erase or generative crop. In fact, the software usually gives me an error message. Doing it the old-fashioned way works better.

Looks really good on this video, but it does not work in real life. The Generative AI is, frankly, awful. I try to remove something and it replaces it with a picture of some wedding!(?). Even using the Stability AI function does not remove anything, it only replaces it with something else. I have 32GB RAM and 6GB VRAM with Ryzen 7 processor. This feature needs lots of improvement. Sorry.

I tried the local generative AI and it makes my blood boil, so tremendously stupid. 😡 Can't get it to simple erase an object, it swaps the selected object with differend kinds of dogs and men with distorted faces. I don't know why the local AI thinks I want to insert strangers in my family photo. It doesn't erase a person, it swaps it with a horror creature. It looks like a refund.

same happened to me, i tried to eliminate one of two people in a photo and it created a "monster", however I applied the AI to the "monster" and it cleared completeley, basically the AI needed two runs at it

Let me point out something with the Ai. AI is more of a rescue option, its your job to get a good photo to begin with. Do people not want to be photographers anymore, they are lazy and expect AI to fix everything?

Great point, but if you are a pro photographer say at wedding, things are often candid. Ofc you can do most to avoid, but having ai reduces time spent editing so you can go out and get more clients. Still with Ai you are still responsible for the end result.
