Anthony, a great unbiased video. In my opinion, ON1 over-hyped and rushed out these new features without fully testing them. They fail completely on my old Mac Mini M1 (2014) and I am not prepared to shell out more money on Stability A1. ON1 now takes up a lot of storage and is also extremely processor hungry. I will stick with it for now, but I don’t know how long that will be in future.

I agree results are mixed or poor. My quick fix until on1 fix on1 is to send the photo to luminar neo gen erase or gen expand. Both gives perfectly acceptable results. Generally don't use luminar much but this works

Great video. The pros and cons of Ai. I agree that it will get better in time.

Thank you Anthony for the video. Yes I'm having the same issues. Hopefully ON1 will make improvements.

I have tried the new AI functions with the anticipation that it will not work 100%. So I was not disappointed with the results I got. However I did not update from 2024 to 2025 for only the AI, but also for the other improvements and additions and that is worth a lot more to me.

I am up-to-date in both Adobe and ON1 licenses and lol, have no axe to grind in this fight. Those who have a $10 per month Adobe Photography subscription plan know that these generative tools added to 2025 ON1 Photo RAW work better in Adobe Photoshop, but that's mainly because Adobe has a two-year head start. They were similarly hit-or-miss two years ago in Adobe as well, but Adobe has continued to improve them, and they work better there now than in ON1. I'm confident ON1 will get better with experience and continued programmer attention as well.

Great video. I finding I get the same results with Adobe LRC and PS. The Ai has some stranger results sometimes even out of the three choices. Looking for an alternative.

I've been using the Gen AI features in Luminar for a year and can attest that they work flawlessly. But it didn't in the beginning, so there is hope for On1 in the long run. However, I saw samples of using the Stability AI for Gen AI changes. Yes, it was better than the current Local On1 generation. However, the Stability AI gen still lags behind Luminar. It lacks Luminar's seamlessness and naturalness. Most changes by Luminar look so natural you can't tell if changes were made and where.

Nice video, Anthony. I was very excited when they first announced the generative additions. Unfortunately, the release has proven to be very disappointing. Most of my attempts with generative erase have given horrible artifacts or random unrelated objects. As a long-time ON1 user, i am looking for an alternative.

I also had no luck with the generative crop, lines and blurry images. I tried both the gen ai and the stability ai without success. Stability ai will give you 25 tokens when you sign up so you can give it a try.

I think you'll find that Stability AI will cost in the region of 2 or 3 cents an image.
