Hi---this probably is not necessary with your newer unit but Onan recommends you also clean the spark arrestor during an oil change if done at the recommended 250 hour interval. Cleaning the spark arrestor is easy but requires a long socket extension...I think mine is 18". I change my oil at about 100 hours (give or take 50) and always clean the spark arrestor as well as change fuel and air filters every other change. Onan recommends your newer unit have oil changed every 50 hours. Thanks for your video

Thanks for the input! Actually per Onan my oil is changed every 250 hours and the spark arrestor once a year along with the fuel and air filter (depending on usage). Thanks again for your input!

Is this the correct Fuel Filter part # for the 8000 QD? It appears mine is a small round in line type, unless I am looking in the wrong spot. Ours is a 2012 coach, model # 8hdkak-1046M

Yes, it was highly recommended by an Onan dealer I use.

Couldn't you have slid the generator out to avoid removing the access door?

Derek, I wish that was the case. The exhaust pipe is the only reason you couldn’t open the door all the way. If you watch my video again go to 3:21 when I slide the generator back to show the drain plug. You will see what I’m talking about. Thanks for asking though.
