Found this video after Hurricane Helene in 2024. The entire city is without power, and I was thrilled to be able to use my RV and it's generator. AC wouldn't work. I prayed and found your video. So, at 2:30 am, I flipped that switch and voila, there's AC power. Blessings to you for making these videos ❤

*A quiet **Generater.Systems** , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.*

Thanks for the video. Out of the blue my generator quit supplying power to our rig. Thought it might be rodent damage. Traced and tested all wires. Could've saved a lot of time if I watched your video first. Turned out to be that hidden switch. I must've hit it a while back when I was cleaning the generator. Thanks again.

You are the man! Just bought a used Winnebago from C.W. and they showed me everything on the RV while it was hooked to shore power. Generator started great and since I have another RV, I wasn't too worried about it everything seemed normal. Got it home to load some supplies while it was 115 outside (Phoenix) and gennie cranks but no power. checked everything and all was good. Was about to call and cuss out the salesman when I stumbled upon you video and viola, it's all good. Thanks for taking the time to help the rest of us out, even those of us that are mechanically inclined, we still need some help every now and again.

Thanks ! You just saved me a lot of grief driving my RV 70 miles round trip to the repair shop. We just had generator work done because it would not start. They put a new carb on it. We tested before we left the repair shop and gen cranked and ran fine. After getting it home I tried putting the air conditioner on. Nothing. No AC anywhere in the RV. I Googled the symptoms and your video popped up as first on the list. I'd briefly looked for a breaker on the generator but did not find it. Your video showed me exactly where to look on my Onan 4000. I pulled the little switch forward as you said because it was pushed backwards to the rear. Cranked the generator and everything worked inside again. Way to go! Thank you again.

Great tips. I have the exact same generator in our toy hauler. It has been the most unreliable piece of equipment I've ever owned. Currently it cranks, but won't start. This is unusual for my generator as it always works at home,m but NEVER works when out camping. I've spent so much time and money on this boat anchor. I, after being let down by this genset more than once, never leave home without my always reliable H.F. 3500 watt inverter generator.

Good video. I would add two things concerning tip #3: (1) the AC breaker switch should be in the up position to allow generated AC to go to your converter in the camper and onto your appliances; (2) once you have the AC breaker in the correct position, let the generator run a few minutes to build up charge to your camper appliances before turning them on. I rushed the procedure, and the appliances (micro wave, refrigerator, air conditioner) would not come on. This led me to believe there was an internal problem with the generator, that something to be more complicated an expensive to correct. It was simply the breaker switch being in the wrong position to start and, then, not letting the charge build up in the generator.

Searched the web for help and be GODS GRACE I found your channel and here’s the silly part I didn’t know the shore power pig tail MUST be plugged into the outlet I thought it was just a way to keep the prongs good and not to beat a hole in the bottom of the compartment! 😂 Thank you sir and GOD BLESS YOU!!!🙏💪🇺🇸

Tip #3 is the winner. For any of you folks who have a situation where the genny’s front panel is difficult to access and remove like mine (I have a Sprinter conversion, and everything is tightly packed), here’s a hack that might work for you. You do have to remove the front panel to do this the first time, but after that, you’re home free. You’ll need a drill, a wire hanger and wire cutters. The genny breaker switch knob has a small hole drilled through it-a perfect size to slide a wire hanger through it. First, I drilled a hole a little bit wider than the diameter of the hanger wire through the genny’s metal housing (just below the bottom edge of the front panel), aligned and level with the breaker switch. Next I cut a piece of wire from the hanger then bent one end 90° then fed that end through the hole I cut and then fed it through the switch hole. I then bent that end just enough so it wouldn’t slide out of the switch hole. Finally I trimmed the “pull” end so that it was long enough for me to pinch when the switch knob is in the furthest rear position (off). This length prevents the wire from being pulled all the way through the hole I drilled. Now I can move the breaker switch back and forth without having to remove the front panel.

Great video. I've been messing with mine on this trip for three days. IMPORTANT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS: In my experience, I had reset the breaker on the Onan generator (mine looks exactly like yours, but different model number) with no success. After watching your video, I decided to pull the shorepower and plug my 30 amp into my onboard outlet (so as to provide electricity to my coach), and WITH GENERATOR OFF, I then reset the generator breaker switch. It worked this time. Prior to this, with the generator running and resetting the switch it did not work! Note, too, that the switch is to be pulled toward you...away from you is off on this same type generator as in the video. So happy as it will be 100* while visiting Boston the next couple days and having the generator powering the coach air conditioner will keep my family from killing one another!

I just put a new carb in my onan micro 4000 and now that it is running fine I found I had no power. Saw your video and the little breaker on the generator was the issue. Thank you sir for this video, you saved the day.

Thank you! We're out on our first trip and faced this same situation. It turned out it was the breaker at the generator. I completely missed seeing that and your video got us up and running again tonight.

Thanks. I will look better tomorrow. I just spent days trying to change out my fuel pump and fuel filter. Finally got it in and working but now my electrical is not working. It's not the circuit breakers or fuses. I'll check for that circuit shut off tomorrow. thanks. I tried your other trick before about removing some oil and it worked once after that but then started acting up again. So found out it was actually the fuel filter.

Same thing happened to us. After trying these great tips, it ended up our voltage regulator was bad. I was really hoping it would be one of your easy fixes💜 but it ended up being a $600 voltage regulator repair service 😪. But that's ok, our rv is working again beautifully. Great video. Thanx

You have saved us! We have hurricane Florence at our door in eastern NC and we were going to use our RV generator as we usually do to power our freezer, etc. My husband couldn't get any electric output at all. We were almost panicking (or at least I was) since if we were leaving we should have already done so. I came in to our computer and searched the problem and found your video. It was solution #3! My husband had no idea there was a breaker switch on the generator. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!

Thank you for a great video as I had this exact problem when I went to exercise my RV generator after it sitting and not running for 6 weeks. It turned out to be the generator breaker was flipped. I wasn’t aware of that breaker but will remember in future.

Awesome, the breaker popped on mine for the outlets (GFI), turned off generator and tried to push the breaker back on. No joy. For the life of me I didn’t want to start a fire so then you can turn it off the other direction and something clicked, it had reset. Turned it back to “on” and it caught. Thanks your info was on the money.
