NOTE: Permission was given to shoot onboard by ship's management. All footage was taken onboard a superyacht. People generally only see these yachts from a distance, from the outside. They are generally draped in secrecy as owners are very private. This hopefully gives you an idea of what it's like to sail/work onboard.

Love the anchor chain sequences! Rarely, if ever, recorded ... well done. Anchoring was always a spectacular event aboard the ship on which I served in the 1970s, the USS Jason AR8, 15,000 tons and 530+ feet long.

That was really cool - so interesting to see behind the scenes and appreciate what it takes to get one of these yachts underway. I can't even begin to imagine how much the running costs would be for a vessel this size; just keeping all that chrome polished would take a small army! I own a 43 foot fiberglass houseboat and I got to tell ya it's always work to maintain and clean. You can clean it and the next day it looks like it's been a week. I can't afford to have someone do it, so I wear a lot of hats. There's no way I keep my boat as clean as this mega yacht. Not one spot of dry salt film on any bright-work, any wet spray wont be there long with that crew. CRAZY amount of labor and money spent.

I've watched a helluva lot of videos about beautiful yachts, their designs, interiors, purchase price and running costs. I've now come to this conclusion: the vast MAJORITY (if not ALL) super/mega/giga yachts are registered under the ownership of a company or corporation and not by an INDIVIDUAL. The prohibitive annual running costs of (approx. 10% of the cost of the yacht) fuel, crew, maintenance, berthing fees, etc. are probably then attributed to a company's assets and running costs - just like a company's private jet. In such cases, the yacht's crew would likely be employees of the company/group and not employees of an individual. (Tax benefit!) Likewise, when such vessels are hired for 7 days for several hundred thousand Euros, it will be corporations footing the bill, not individuals. In both scenarios, accountants will deal with such fiscal details. Just my thoughts.
